Thank you for all of your encouragement. I don't know what kind of back he was doing. From what I understand he has to park between 2 trailers. He is with Swift and we are thrilled that he has an opportunity to have a job. Sorry I can't be more specific with my answers. Trucking is a mystery to me. I am a nurse who does wound care. What I have learned I have learned from all of you and I am grateful. Thank you again for the prayers and the encouragement.
WOCN??? (I'm a nurse too and specialized in wound care when I did home care) And the more time you spend here on TTR the more you will learn about this industry. We all had to start somewhere and were all new at something once! Keep asking questions as the people are here are a GREAT source of knowledge and it can be alot of fun too!!!
I learned to just put it in 1st reverse, ride the clutch, and stay on the brakes. There is no rush in backing. Set-up is everythinu. Stop with the driver's-side window facing the hole. G.OA.L. Put the truck in 1st gear and coast making a hard right intil your truck is facing the right, then a hard left until your truck is facing parallel to the hol and straighten the wheel. The truck should now be in a "L" shape. That's the correct set-up for a 45° back.
Prayers to you and your family have been said from me. I start orientation with Swift this coming Monday....
