Talk to Millis Transfer about their CDL school. See if they offer you a job or not; you don't have to accept the job, just see if they offer or not.

Make sure the school you choose has you do some "pre-hire" letters to trucking companies before they have you pay any tuition. If they come back positive, it doesn't mean you have a job, but it does mean that after a quick screen (including your MVR) there isn't anything that would preclude you from being brought into orientation. A shady school won't do this up front.

I got a ticket for my DOT bumper pushing into a bush. The rest area lady decided that the accident was fatal to the bush. I pushed it back in place. The LEO was laughing but because she insisted he gave me a ticket for hitting a bush. I told him either it was me parking the truck because I was started to Micro-sleep or continue down the two lane road and end up overturned into the ditch. Explained that to the company safety department and they never blinked at the ticket.

The reason they're called "accidents" is because the definition allows for unlimited knowledgeable and willful negligence.

The reason road safety professionals do not call them accidents but crashes instead is because they virtually always involve knowledgeable and willful negligence... like following too close on bad tires in the rain... after 13 years of experience.

What is the violation for backing into a bush... and wouldn't not backing into a bush while parking be another option to backing into a bush while parking or ending up in a ditch...?

I still think you are alright considering you got the ticket before getting a CDL. But that manual isn't real clear. It doesn't even say how long you would be disqualified. I seriously doubt those offenses listed are all life-time bans.

I like the suggestion of just going down and taking the permit tests. It looks like you were headed in that direction already considering you are reading the handbook...

I would think if you weren't qualified, they will stop you before taking the test.

If you can afford to get the ticket removed, all the better!

You'll fit right in. There's plenty of supertruckers out there who don't believe in reducing speed either no matter the circumstances cus they like to keep it old school.

What would disqualify Jeff Dahmer from getting a CDL? :biggrin_2559:
