How many of you guys think we should get a fair hourly wage for the time we are responsible for the truck instead of the mileage pay system? Then shippers and recievers would have to pay for "hours used" instead of miles. I bet they'd quit dinkin' around at the docks too, cuz those would count as part of the "hours used".

Might not work for smaller companies, but larger ones with qualcomms? They know exactly when and where u stared your day, and where and when you parked within 5 feet. If the government and law enforcement can use it to send you to prison, then by GOD they should be able to use it to get you a fair living and treatment. I'm tired of companies and uncle sam getting to have their cake and eat it too.

That's the type of job that you set your goals for. When I retired in 2000 I went out at $23.50 an hour and got paid for every minute I was there. That's hauling gasoline locally and working for the major oil companies. In that line of work you have to get experience with tanks and work at the lousy jobs to work your way up. The pay jumps when you get with a company that does not make their money from the truck. Like Chevron, Shell, Exxon, and any others that refine and sell their own branded product. Any truck driving job is better when you work for a company that sells their own product.

The majority of companies would go broke within 6 months, paying minimum wage.

3 months, if they had to pay over time.

Good, freight rates would go up and we'd have alot less idiots on the road. =)

Sadly, i believe that some companies deserve to go under.
