just some labor stats for trucking, current empty jobs in all of transportation, 3.2% of all transportation jobs for Nov 2014.

    for comparison,
    construction, 2.3%
hospitality, 5.2% (food service jobs, hotels, service plazas)

total empty jobs in all sectors, 3.4%

now put some numbers to that percent.

transportation, openings for november, 876,000 jobs
    total hires for november, 1,119,000
    total terminations, 1,046,000

all information can be found at
    http://www.bls.gov/

There is NO driver shortage, just a churning of the wannabes, and new hires.

current unemployment is 5.6% with a participation rate of 62.7 people able to work seeking employment.

if trucking really has that bad of turnover then thats why we're (allegedly) paid so poorly

these higher-ups read about how bad turnover is , why would they pay us alot if stattisically we won't be there long. its a waste of their time and money. if we'd stop turnover pay may go up. but rates would have to go up first.

"We will not stop turnover", if you are asking us drivers to stop it on our own. WE cannot agree on anything, we cannot band together, we are independents, we are not sheeple that adhere to the rules.

So as a result, many of us "do our time" and move on when something better comes along, and usually it does, then we stay put. Until then, all others are "way-stations" we pass by, pass through, pass judgement on to others.
