I dunno, if you're real aggressive about it you could switch off the build plates. Say take an out of service '98 Great Dane with tons of issues and swap it for a decent condition 07'. Heck, even stripping it for parts might be worth thousands and you might not get caught. If the banks/creditors don't lock these trailers down quick they might start missing tires, lights, rims, airsprings, etc.

Nowadays though everything is LoJacked. Not to mention they stamp VIN numbers everywhere on the chassis. And good luck getting it serviced if a reputable shop does a VIN check and realizes that it’s hotter than a prostitute’s *** on a Saturday night!!!

Ive always thought that if we must get hit, make it a good strong fat one coming in vertical so that we can get all of that over and done with. -
When you invest over $100,000 in equipment, you’re going to do whatever it takes to protect that investment. Even if it means stamping everything. F***, I have a Kia Rio and they even went so far as to stamp the floor pan underneath the carpeting!! -

A respectable company closing and telling drivers is one thing. Just ceasing operations with limited notice is another. You said it yourself your willing to operate a commercial motor vehicle illegally. No insurance, no authority, and its your license. I have ever bit of respect for respectful people. They didnt care were their drivers or equipment was because its not thiers anymore. Guess this is why Im self employed and take no crap from anyone. My cdl would be secure for my future and family in a rental car heading home. Plus they were cut rate scabs.PoleCrusher Thanks this.
