Everyone is wired different as far as sleep requirements.

As far as the original question,we are supposed to sleep 10 hours after driving 11.
Myself,a good 5 to 6 hours in the bunk and i can run another 800 to 1000 miles.I have to force myself to take 10 hours but it's the law...:biggrin_25513:

The big problem I've always had is the hour just before daybreak. The night seems to get darkest and coldest then and I begin to nod no matter how much rest I've had. Once the sun peeks up I'm fine again.

Over the years I've learned to just take a quick break rather than take a chance.

BTW, I also stop for 1/2 hr or so when driving into the rising/setting sun.

People who work in places where they never see the sun, such as the Kansas City Underground, defy the accepted logic of circadian rhythms and how they influence fatigue and productivity. This throws a monkey wrench into the expert claims that the "body's clock" cannot be overridden or reset.

Honestly, nothing peculiar. I'm a high school teacher, just trying to get helpful information. I'd send you a link to my website, but I don't think its allowed on the forum.

Interesting. What do you think the difference is between the car and truck, beside the seat?

You can PM me a link, I will look at it. You have come to a trucking forum full of truckers looking for answers to ????

This site is truckers helping other truckers being legal and staying legal. I know the mods are watching this thread as the answers to what you are asking could be easily misconstrued.

A couple of years ago unsuspecting truckers answered a few innocent questions posed to them by ordinary looking citizens about if they were tired and how much rest they got, etc,etc and is now a big legal mess.

You really should do some research on what we call our Hours Of Service. They will fully explain how we get a 14 hr work window each day after a 10 hr rest break. We can (and some do) take naps during this time.
