Or under cutting/bidding like on that farce of a tv show, Shipping Wars. What a bunch of hacks that are on that show, with "maybe" the exception of the 2 18 wheeler o/o's, but even those 2, cannot be making THAT much profit?
Wasn't the revenue to the driver/owner better when they did actually have companies give set rates before any of this Shipping wars style industry came about from deregulation?
What if it was really wrong? Are you saying you couldn't fight it? I always wonder about that when the shipper/receiver scale time stamps are wrong after daylight savings time (some of them take a few days before changing them). Being on paper, I usually make the scale tickets disappear just to avoid any potential hassle. Probably easily explained and a non issue, but why risk giving them a woody and keeping you there while they investigate and waste both of our time lol
....that's exactly what im saying .....thank you again Ganthony , it's a loose / loose for ALL drivers , the more these companies are getting warm bodies in their equipment to work for less& less , the more inconfident ,unsafe ,underpaid, & dangerous & therefore more DOT regulations to follow , while the fatcats go home to their families with the $ that should be in the drivers pockets , they love capitalism as long as it favors themselves , don't get me wrong im not a communist neither ....but what im saying , i can't see how this industry is ever going get better until we do something about it instead of wsiting for it to change for better on it's own or wait for more DOT regulations ? ....these guys say they miss good ole days ,because the frieght was regulated , the loads all were much set in stone & this profession was a respectible career that a man could raise his family on , but we have let them turn this job into a bad joke & dumb us down into dogs tryin to get some table scrabs , while the rest of country is saying wondering why we have a problem , we need more DOT regulations ......guys are standing alone saying NO! , we don't need more DOT regulations ! We need to have regulations on the FRIEGHT!!!! .....to clean industry up & no longer tolerate corporate greed & unlawfulness thieving or scandalistic programs like CDL mills funded by the govt. just for sake of taking advantage uniformed young men/ women paying them less &less or even destroying their dreams with these L/P scams ........if we let this go on & do nothing about it , sooner or later it will an effect not only our profession but our country !!!!....i know i am a line wolf on this issue but i am strong on this point ....wish my brothers would help me deffend this hill ....am i wrong on this ?
Nobody would have to cheat on their log books , i suppose ......or drive 40 tons of equipment so tired they can't think straight , just to make chump change
Well here is "the way it is". Take a group of truck drivers, and have them voice thier opinions AND concerns, ok? Then ask if EACH ONE IS WILLING to work towards it, in ANY WAY possible, up to and including emailing, phone calls, and visits to thier respective politicians back home, ok? Listen to how THEY WILL ALL AGREE to actually do something, ok? Watch AND listen as they leave such a meeting, and nearly EACH ONE WILL SAY, "I ain't got the time to get involved, I gotta go make mamma some money" or "I'll have to do that later, I got to go and get on down the road, I ain't got no time now for that stuff, I'll let someone else do it", ok? Then since NO ONE actually DOES ANYTHING, self righteous citizen safety groups, self righteous anti-trucking groups, speak UP TO the politicians and the Feds, THAT WILL DO SOMETHING FOR US, and this is why we deserve the crap we get. Everyone "talks the talk", like so many talk they are former Navy Seals, Special Forces, paratroopers, former Sheriff Deputies, or former CIA Hitmen, but how quickly they ALL BACK DOWN in actually doing something about this industry. Again, as my sig says: *Hoping to retire soon*, as I tire of all the talk. My days are swiftly coming to an end, and when that end comes, brother, I will set the road on fire, driving to my DMV and flinging my CDL at the person behind the counter and say "shove it, I'm done". The fight is out of me, and the young ones? Frankly none of 'em could give a crap either, as so many are sheeple, rather than the men and women they claim to be!
Hi G, do what I'm going to do. In 2018 my CDL expires, I'll be 63, God willing, I'm going to have someone take a picture of me burning my CDL, (with a big smile on my face) then have it transferred onto T-shirt's and coffee mugs, and sell them at the truck stops.
you cannot be convicted of any "crime" based upon some random information that may or may not be correct it must be corroborated, verified
I understand what you are getting at but there are ways to verify a receipt if needed, one is fuel records - who pays $500 in cash for fuel these days? Most of the time it is taken at face value unless there is a compelling reason why it shouldn't. Being called to confirm that the time was set correctly via a summons would be a waste of time for a lot of reasons, but more importantly to convince a judge to order a summons to someone in a traffic case is important to a violation seems to step over the threshold of insane.
First off this isn't a criminal case, it is a violation. Second a receipt is proof of a transaction unless there is a reason why it shouldn't be used. That is where a judge makes the determination, not the officer. Third while all of this sounds great, the fact is record keeping, as accurate as possible is still the responsibility of the driver, no one else.
