Drive up north where it can be a couple hundred miles between truck stops. Stop way earlier than you want to, spend the night at one of those little pull offs on the side of the highway or find an extra 30 minutes and wake up the next morning to a nice breakfast while waiting for you book to catch up to you? Sometimes option 3 isn't such a bad idea.
2 lane hwy up north closed without warning for accident clean up/investigation. You're stopped on the side of the road until it opens. When it opens you can't stay there but you're past where the exception can be used.
Many reasons the one size fits all rules don't work as well as it would appear on paper. -
I fudged my paper logs one time, one time, and, I got pulled into the scales in Saint George, Utah, I stood there like a little kid, guilty of something, waiting for them to catch it, they didn't, I drove away and said to myself..."Self" that's what I call me when I'm alone..."You got lucky that time, Don't do it again!"
-
As for me, I'm aware of my 5th Amendment rights, and I ain't circling any dang thing. You think there's a violation, it's your job to find it, not my job to make it easy for you. -
I remember times, you'd run to the limit, get somewhere, and they'd say, "Oh, you want our other warehouse 100 miles away, and they close in 2 hours, or you'll have to wait until Monday".
"Since you don't know how to give the right directions to your facilities, you'll unload it here and now, or YOU'LL wait until next Friday. How bad do you want your freight?" -
False Logbook, God forbid.
Give me a break, all these driver who claim they do not lie, that in it self makes you a liar.
Besides of you even accidently log something at the wrong time or unintentionally forget to log a pee stop, then you too have lied in the book. Get off your high horses and get real.
I have had times in the past when I could not have told you which book was the closest. At one of the carriers they would toss you a new book so you would have a fresh 70 hours.
The corruption and lies by the companies and drivers is what has caused most of the problems today.
We dont run that way anymore but we have in the past, I Thank God for keeping me alive and protecting me and the public, I have never injured anyone, but thats from the Grace of God and my Guardian Angel.
I do my best to make sure the new drivers coming up know the risks and that they do not let anyone push them they way we have been pushed. -
God forbid this happens to you or anyone, but this can be the result of falsifying logs:
A Philadelphia truck driver who police say caused a fatal multi-vehicle car crash back in 2009, was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Valerijs Belovs, 58, is accused of making false statements in connection with falsified commercial truck driver log books. Belovs pleaded guilty to the charges back in October 2011. In addition to the prison term, Belovs was ordered by the U.S. District Court Judge to pay a fine of $1000 and a special assessment of $1500. He is also prohibited form operating a commercial vehicle without express permission from the court.
Investigators say Belovs falsified his federally-required driver daily logbooks 15 times between December 20, 2008 and January 23, 2009. Belovs allegedly did this to hide the fact he was driving over the allowable number of driving hours without getting rest.
On January 22, 2009, police say Belovs stated he was in a sleeper berth in Wytheville, Virginia when he was actually driving to Pennsylvania. On January 23, 2009 around 9:25 a.m., Belovs caused a multi-vehicle crash on the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) eastbound near the Conshohocken curve during rush hour traffic, according to investigators. Police say Belovs struck another vehicle, killing the driver and seriously injuring the passenger."

As for the road closure, you drive to the next suitable parking location with basic services, then start your 10. Note the reason for the violation on your log, and all is good. That's one of those situations that's out of anyone's control, and that's not a situation that my comment was meant to cover.
