Hi windsmith, perhaps I should clarify. When I pulled RR trailers out of Chicago, a lot of times, what was actually on the trailers was kind of vague, as all we'd get from the RR was " 1 trailer load of freight, all kinds". So with out breaking the seal, and actually looking at the freight, ( sometimes, even that wouldn't tell you much) it was "grab and go". Several times, the receiver did order the freight, along with several other loads, that may or may not have gone to the warehouse it was supposed to, and we couldn't go back on Monday, as I had an appointment to be somewhere else to reload and get the trailer back to the RR, to avoid fees from the RR for keeping a wagon out too long. It was a racket I grew tired of and eventually got out of it.

Well many times, I BITE, with nary a care how much blood is drawn from the wound. Next, I absolutely DO NOT advocate falsifying ANY LEGAL DOCUMENT, whether it be a bill of lading, hazmat manifest, time cards, or the good old coloring book we have come to know a log book to be.
What simply fascinates me is the "newer people" in this industry so well knowing all the facts and all the circumstances they learned in trucking school. I was told, and I AM SO SURE so many others here learned from a driver trainer, or whomever taught us, many, many moons ago, to "take all you learned in school, roll down that window, and throw it out, cuz, I'm gonna teach you how to REALLY DO IT!"
There are circumstances NO SCHOOL or rule book, or even the company safety dept can teach you, it's that PLAIN AND SIMPLE. I hardly think that many of the respondents here actually run so hard as to have a need for a second log book, like the old timers of 30, 40, 50 years ago used. I will believe that due to some circumstances, one "has to do what is needed to complete his/her trip, before taking the mandated 10 hours off"
DO not forget, back years ago, we had to take a mandated 8 hours off, but DID NOT HAVE that extra hour to drive. We have as many know, 11 hours to drive, back then, we only had 10. The rule makers make up this archaic system not because they know what they are doing, but because self righteous anti-trucking groups DICTATE to them what to do.
When a newer driver tells US THE RULES? Frankly, I laugh at him so hard, I split a seam. And guys, you know, blue jeans cost money, so please STOP making me go out and buy new ones every so often!
SO to ANY of the newbies, rookies and wannabe's, really, lighten up on all the garbage the schools taught you, because soon enough, you too will be having to buy new jeans when you "hear" a newbie, newer, rookie TELL YOU WHAT HE KNOWS, which is really NOTHING AT ALL!BUMBACLADWAR, 201 and Snowshoes Thank this. -
You know what? WE STILL DO NOT KNOW the log book falsification the o/p got? It could be as simple as dating the next page incorrectly, God I know I have done that! 2 days of (say) the 14th! Oh dear God, the world is coming to an end, the aliens have landed, Tom Cruise is helping us fight them darned aliens, Sigorney Weaver (Ripely) is battling them in the space station, Will Robinson and Robot are fending them off as well!
It is and has been all "conjecture" as to what the o/p did to falsify his log book, with NO ONE KNOWING what he did wrong! Does anyone know, that a paper log book, or leaflet log book, can be DONE IN PENCIL, as LONG AS the signature is DONE IN INK?
Betcha the newbies that "know it all" didn't know that! -
Been having a tough time this month remembering it's not 2014 anymore.
As for the o/p he stated the reason for the falsification. He wasn't accurate about when he fueled and didn't realize the receipt was time stamped.
I don't really care what someone does with their logbook. The Walmart dude showed quite clearly how logging correctly or being legal on paper does nothing to ensure the most important rule is followed. Just don't drive when you're too tired.25(2)+2 Thanks this. -
Oh, ok thanks, I must have missed his reason among all the know it all newbies, that follow everything by the BOOK!
MY BAAAAD! -
