    He did say in Montana.
There is a lot of parking along the interstate. Hard to think of a stretch where there is no truck stop between 2 rest areas for 51 miles. It seems there is a town pump at every exit.

PC to advance a load. I never use PC, but I don't think advancing a load is allowed.

Better to get a parking ticket than a logbook violation imo

Read the latest rule changes, within the last couple of months. You can now advance the load toward destination. Trailer can be loaded or empty, doesn't matter. If I remember correctly you can run up to 50 miles to find T/S under severe circumstances. Source was OIDA monthly publication, look it up.

    Just 50?

I recall some areas of the USA we routinely ran, be #### near 100 miles before you get a route 44 anything large drink.

Technically speaking using PC to find parking because your original stop for parking was already full is not legal.

Look at it like this... By calling it PC you falsify your log book. However if you just keep driving and let it show you as being in violation of either 11 or 14 hour rules, or both... Your log is still accurate. Which do you think is worse, getting dinged for an 11 or 14 hour violation... Or getting dinged for falsifying your logbook???

Sometimes your ###### if you do ###### if you don't.

I recently left a shipper with 3 hours available to drive 76 miles to closest available parking. It took me 3 hours and 26 mins because of SEVERE traffic delays... I did switch to PC once my clock was down to just a few mins and noted "Severe traffic delay, seeking nearest parking" some DOT will let that slide, others will not....

It is NOT a rule change, it is an advisory clarification which screwed all you drivers, the words that matter in what the fmcsa has said is the word "REASONABLE". It still leaves the interpretation of that word to the company and/or the enforcement officer.

50 miles is NOT reasonable, it is excessive unless you are in the middle of no where but then you should be parking anywhere.

I do deliveries and drive home on PC all of the time. Just last night I drove 140 miles home after a delivery and my 14 hour clock had run out while at the delivery.. Had 2 PC's last week, and a level 3 inspection. The DOT officer didn't question any of it.
