Yup, this pretty much shows what it is like. And, a lot of them don't even have that much room. Thank you for posting!!!

 

Tell me about it! Put heavy boxes on top of light, they come crashing down. If you do unfortunately ever find yourself having to unload one of these or anything similar, NEVER attempt to catch a falling package or otherwise shield it from breaking. Let that #### hit the floor!!! It isn't worth risking your fingers, hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, back, muscles, joints and ligaments over a cheap broken glass set! Whose to say it wasn't broken before it was loaded?

This is the DUMBEST way to load a truck (and unload), but, it is the easiest for the DC and cheapest.

Other places will palatalize and shrink wrap the freight so you can move it to the back of the trailer and easily unload down gravity belt.

Others, like Dollar General, put it in tall wheeled carts that you roll off the trailer onto a lift gate and roll into the back of the store. MUCH easier.

 

To each there own. Some fool has to do the grunt work.

JB Hunt is back looking for carriers. They specify up front that it is hard work, one time. But, they don't really describe it, just a lot of warnings that you have to do this, you have to do that, you can't be late, you must unload the entire trailers.

It pays a whopping $1,000 a day for a VERY long and hard working day, besides the miles you will drive.

Yes, some may think that a grand is a lot...but, when you are all done with it, unless you are an athlete, you will not be sore and wondering if it was worth it.

I can generate more revenue per day just running no-touch freight. Yes, I have to run more miles to do it, so, my bottom line might be lower, and I probably have to sleep in a truck stop that night, but, at least my body isn't sore and dead tired and, I don't have to stand inside a trailer in all kinds of weather.

Their trailers are POS, they LEAK water so, if it's raining, your getting wet too. If it is cold, you are freezing, if it is hot, you are sweating. I'd rather be in the creature comforts of my sleeper while I am being unloaded, doing what I want.

 

Good point and, another reason to stay away from FD! The stores are located usually on the worst side of town, and, they demand that you park at the first stop the night before, sleep in your truck in their dark, unsecured parking lot so you are there in time for 1st del. I learned quickly, don't. Stay somewhere else safe, set an alarm, get up in time and roll in before your first del.

They also demand that you have a sleeper truck. When I first tried to start up with them, did all the paperwork, and, then they found out I was driving a day-cab at the time and when I needed, was staying over in hotels.

I was planning on trading my truck for a sleeper, but, hadn't found what I was looking for yet.

They wouldn't dispatch me until I proved I had a sleeper.

I said, "What difference does it make?" "Those are the rules", I was told.

No common sense in these people. None.

 

I really didn't pay attention to the back of that sign when I drove by. I drove my on my way to the store about 12 miles away. Spent an hour perusing the store and the truck was still there on my way back. Just stopped for a quick pic.

Now I see the entrance that is halfway blocked by the concrete "island" with a sign that can't b read. This is off ow a two lane highway. What could be the possible reason for that island? No right turn?

What is a truck going to do on the way out? No choice but block the whole entrance and wait for traffic. No one can get in as the entrance is halfway blocked. No 4-wheeler going into the store is going to see the situation before it's too late and therefore will stop close enough that you can't even make a left turn without running over thier hood.

WTF?

Maybe I will run by again next week and see what the sign says...

That's quite alright! Yup, as I stated before, some of the approaches on the Family Dollar stores are NOT for rookies.

There is a pretty funny Youtube video of a young FD company driver, a rookie, complaining about how FD "ruined" his career as a truck driver, not any of his own fault. He complains how he got "unfairly treated" and ultimately fired after screwing up at least 2 stops. It is worth playing just to hear his attitude and what he says to his "boss", its funny how he can't figure this out!

I am thinking he did more than just this, but, his attitude is hilariously off. He goes into excruciating detail...I think there might even be multiple video's he made. Could be worth the trouble, you can fast forward through them. Get the jist.
