KENWORTH and cummins both told me that new units were actually rebuilt units. $3500. and that was on an 05 with mechanical actuator. i'd hate to see what the electronic actuator would cost.
i pulled mine off and had it rebuilt for $1500 by a guy that made his career rebuilding turbos. it lasted the standard 2 weeks they all last. but there was a heavier duty kit just released. to which he already had ordered. fixed a second time. and it worked better then it ever did. for 4 months. when it had an oil leak. a shop fixed the leak. MAYBE. the engine blew up 2 miles down the road.

If you ever decide to close off your EGR you can buy a fixed vane replacement off of the NON EGR ISX and it will last 500k+ and cost a grand to replace or less just to rebuild!

So, they are starting the actual repair on my truck. Brand new long block and complete rebuild. We cannot figure out if the dealer being awesome or shady. There has been fuel in the oil since we bought it and they may have known since it had just had an oil change so we could not get an oil sample. They are bending over backwards to make this work, giving us a free rental, counting it as a warranty repair so no tax, parts at cost and hitting up Volvo Corporate and Cummins for donations (Volvo has thrown in $3500, still waiting on an answer from Cummins) after all is said and done we will have a new engine with the new turbo and dpf filter, a 250,000 mile warranty and a truck we love to drive. Just need to keep running so we can pay the #### repair bill off since they are financing it. As soon as we get a final answer on the cost, we will determine how hard we want to play hardball.

Wow, that sounds like they're stepping up in a big kind of way. Free rental is huge they're expensive when you're paying for them. Still though you'll be out a big chunk on this situation. Btw, there is a great thread down in the garage section posted by Rawze about proper maintenance, troubleshooting when there are problems, etc.. ..about your engine. From the looks of it once you understand what to do and how to keep it up those motors really don't deserve the bad rap they get and can be great on fuel mileage to boot. http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...x-cm871-technical-discussion.html#post3473802

the motor can still get a bad rap.
you can preventive maintance all you want. still can't stop the common problems.
kind of like the ford taurus. did all the maintance to keep her running like a champ. i have no idea why the motor mounts broke. the heater core plugged up. and the transmission went out. common problems with the taurus. -

With F2F do you need to provide your own trailer, or do you pull theirs? Are there any D/H if their trailers?
Thinking of options for spring of next year -

NoCoCraig,
I am an O/O also formerly from USX. I completed a L/P program with them and now working for a small company out of FL. I have done some research and F2F popped up on my radar also. Can you tell me more about them and how things are going for you guys. Currently I don't have my own trailor and am running the Load out deals as well but it's a pain. I would love to get more info on the F2F company and see if it would be a good fit. Thanks.
George.
