We had many customers that ran the 2 micron filters in their Detroits, as a single filter system, the system has "0" restriction so it does not efect anything it might cost you a filter more a year. Many of them changed the filter once a year and they trucks that ran double shifts hauling max weight over mountains, They would drain the filters once a week, or they would bring it by the shop and I would do it. As stated if there is a problem with the fuel system it is easy to see, and fix early instead of waiting till it caused a failure or it had to be shut down loosing a load.
It is by far my favorite upgrade that pays off, besides a coolant filter, I recomended it, and at one time if you added it to the truck as an OEM option Detroit would double the injector warrenty. We had trucks that got the upgrade that Detroit would grant the warrenty, if dealer installed before it went to work.
    Just a thought!

Well, Fuel Pro 482 may be specifically designed for DD15. But its not designed for Coronado! Their mounting diagram was obviously for a Cascadia.

what if you use a 2 micron filter but the OEM only specs 7 microns?

Maybe nothing more than you will probably have to change the filter out more frequently. But the OEM's spec the micron level they do to also account for the fuel pump and other factors. By going to a lower micron, one could possibly be putting more stress on the fuel pump if it was designed for a higher micron level. And I am not sure there is any real actual benefit going from a 7 micron to a 2 micron. It is not that big of a jump like, say, going from 30 microns down to 10. I am quite comfortable with the 7 micron filter I use in my Davco. I am not going to base my decision on the micron level to use because of one or two anecdotal comments that someone else tried it and had no issues. That is akin to those that like to try things like inflating their drive tires to 120 psi in their quest to tweak out that last little tenth in mpg. Sounds good on the surface, but it is also been shown that running much higher pressures in tires than the OEM recommendation also can place stress on suspension components and damage bushings sooner.

Each person is free to choose what road the want to go down in doing this stuff. There is no real evidence that there is any negative effect by using the 7 micron in my Davco like Detroit specifies. They built the engine, they did all the R&D to design it, and they have been at this for quite a while. Cat likes a 2 micron level. cool. If you got a Cat, then go with that. But just because Cat likes it, they didn't build my Detroit engine.

Good Afternoon Everyone, I'm interested in adding the FASS system to my 2000 KW W900L with C16 625HP. Looking at getting the T 260G (260GPH)... Just curious if anyone can help me out as to which fuel return lines will be the best... Should I get the dual return fuel lines (regular) or the dual return lines (venting)???

I have a 3406E and every time I change the water separator or main filter it seems like I have nothing but problems getting truck restarted, the factory plunger that I just replaced about 6 months ago is like a coat hanger and nudist colony USELESS, if I install a fass will it make changing filter easier, and not have to crank on the motor all day long, also is it possible to delete all of the factory filter stuff and just use the fass filter for water saperator and main filter???

That is the main reason I put one on my pete. Though I have longer than normal fuel lines and distance to the tank because of my longer wheel base.

I have the air dog system not the FASS system.

If your system is draining back it will be hard to start, the system needs a check valve, when I do filters I fill them first, drain the oil and punch the filters change the primary filter, do everything else, while it drains, then fill and install the oil filter/filters, install the proper amount of oil, run unit for 2 minutes while I inspect it, then shut it off and then change the secondary filter.
, while the oil drains back to check the level. The Davco system is such a great unit, and so adaptive to different needs you can have it water heated, electrically heated or no heat which is standard. We had lots of guys that used a finer filter than recommended, and because of the size of the filter even when it was fully covered never worried and only changed it when the unit came in for service.

On the Davco....I love them too...great filter...but the zero restriction is hogwash....I run them as primary, with a 1r0749 on pressure side as secondary( c15 cat)....I tried running the 10 micron.... Brand new it will do 5+ pounds of restriction.... Called Davco......worked through the sales people. Only answer got was use 50 micron....eventually got past sales people...no answer except that's normal and run 50 micron....once used a bit but still well below the replacement indicator it will hit 10 pounds...any ideas Johnp3 or Paule? Thanks..... Btw replace with fs1023 and restriction drops ...I know it's a 100 micron..... I'm just not buying davcos pitch that there is no restriction...would love to use the davco....
