Haven't had any such problems with my FASS.

I've heard the newer air dog fass system no longer uses any motor because it works on the high pressure side.
I have one of the older systems, on my second motor in third year and they sent me a free replacement motor without sending the old motor back in. This was Airdog not FASS brand. -

By rights, I should have a 9+ mpg truck right now. But I don't.
<shrugs> Can't go wrong with a Davco. So that's what I got. And it's doing great with a 2 micron filter. -
Bump.
I got into a conversation with one of our mechanics about these after asking out of curiosity about the micron rating on the fuel filters they're putting on our trucks, not to mention that I'm planning on putting a FASS on my pickup.
Now, bearing in mind that I am certainly no diesel mechanic, at least certainly not when compared with the likes of our members @wore out and @OLDSKOOLERnWV, but my understanding of the common rail system such as that featured on the 6.7 Cummins is the lift pump supplies fuel to the injector pump with then takes what it needs to keep the rails and injector lines pressurized.
Our mechanic that I talked to tonight however had the following theory.
The FASS system I'm interested in has a flow rate of 95 gph, but according to him if you install an aftermarket lift pump and it happens to have a higher flow rate than the stock lift pump, this could lead to increased output pressure by the injector pump and overpressure at the injectors, and at a worse case scenario blowing the tip off an injector.
Thoughts?OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this. -
Your theory is correct.
Your mechanic mmmmmm.......not so much.
The fass systm or airdog system is exactly That, a lift pump. It job is to feed the high PRESSURE fuel pump or CP3 pump on a common rail system. They are adjustable and normally set to what the factory lift pump provides. This is psi . Volume is different and never hurt anything.
It will have 0 effect on blowing the tips off your injectors.OLDSKOOLERnWV, MACK E-6 and T800H Thank this. -
I have to remember that this is a guy who claims to have invented anti-lock brakes and has no problem reminding everyone of that "fact".OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this. -
Lol!!!' So all them years we used coins, visegrips and the such on the return lines, to put more pressure on the injectors was putting us at risk of blowing the Injector tips off?
Everything in life has to be used with common horse sense. I think he is out of it lol.
MACK E-6 Thanks this. -
If the tips could be blown off, by now someone would have heard about the unhappy Dodge/Cummins pickup owners.
MACK E-6 Thanks this.
