Today I went on Air Dog site to find a dealer in my area, I was able to call someone not too far from me. Interesting thing, sales person who pickup a phone give me quote for the system 260ghp with installation for 1,250.00 That's way cheaper then buying just a system from any website that has it. What you all think? Is this a scam or did they downgrade the price? I'm happy with the price, the system without installation is 1,000 I might install it myself.

Does it install itself? Did not take me much more than a 2 hours to istall the FASS. That includes running a new return line.

    SHC Thanks this.

Not entirely true. Diesels love cooler, denser fuel. They will perform better. Fass, Airdog also cool your fuel. It explains why when DL550CAT accidentally cuts his unit off he can tell it has a sluggish feel to it. That's hot fuel. Pullingtrucker has posted before how after he installed FASS it always had that cool fuel feel, slightly more powerful better throttle response, that your motor has in the morning after you first start it up and run it. You will notice, especially with a cat, as the fuel warms up its not as peppy as it was. You could accomplish the same effect much cheaper by routing your fuel thru an old transmission cooler, without the extra filtration of course. I think Airdog or FASS is good for any engine regardless of power.

Don't Dl550 and Pullingtrucker both have close to 700hp tho??

Anyways, I was mainly speaking of ROI as the original poster is looking for better MPG. As I have been told, the FASS does all that you stated but it does not improve MPG more than poss 1/10th and that was only on occassion.

The guys at PDI told me this, as I am looking to do some upgrades here in the next few weeks. I asked them if I should go with the FASS system and they said that if I was running under 700hp then it really does nothing but get the air out of the fuel. Which is good, but the unit will not pay for itself in it's 3-4yr life span??

I am pushing a estimated 800 HP (that should soon be dyno certified). The FASS didn't gain me any mileage even when I was running the stock CAT programming. But it helped with the HP/TQ of the motor even with the stock programming. To just look at a product for MPG gain is kind of short sided. Take a step back and look at the big picture. The FASS (and maybe Airdog) will remove the air and water from the fuel. Add in the better filtration and the product is great even if no mileage is gained. Injectors are getting more and more expensive, brand new ones are hard to come by for certain engins for some odd reason, and the reman failure rate is way high (50% on CAT alone). I for one want to protect my injectors and surely want to protect my new set in the future.

Displaced Yooper and DL550CAT Thank this.

The 4-6 hours of install time has been told to me by multiple certified FASS shops. Point is, that instead of routing lines back to the tanks, the AirDog "T's" into the existing return line coming right out of the block and using the routing that is already there. Depending on your truck's set up, you could potentially install the AirDog in about 1 hour. I don't think this would be norm, but sounds like you could.

I have a few friends that have the AirDog installed. They all have gained anywhere from 0.3 to 0.7 MPG.

thanks for the good info, I'm half way installing the system and it definitely doesn't take short time. I have a car carrier truck and extra cables for greasing and PTO pump on driver side frame that had to be moved in order to mount Air Dog. It already took about 4 hours just to do that, Air Dog also comes with a light that you can mount inside the cab for any error codes or something like that. Tomorrow should be done.
