Stoned dirvers may very well be impaired. But, they are 100 times safer than Drunk Dirvers. Well, maybe not 100, but still alot safer. I am not saying SAFE, just alot safer than Drunk Drivers.

Yeah, I find that to be a very weak argument. First, you can't back that claim with any actual research, secondly.. saying, "driving dangerously this way is more tolerable than driving dangerously that way" is a load of crap - shouldn't be doing either one. If someone smokes a little grass, I really do not care. But if they're going to get behind the wheel impaired - regardless of what they're on - there is no justification for that, and the "but this impairment isn't as bad as that impairment" argument is another ######## strawman argument with no real value behind it.

I agree with you, Brokensproket, and crankee, and Witchinghour, if we're taking turns "in the booth", (although, I've never done that), years ago, we all smoked and had a great time, never once did anyone crash into anything, and have millions of safe miles. I'm not talking about being blitzed, just a little buzz to melt the miles. It's been my experience, people who never did anything, are the ones most paranoid of the "horrors" of smoking. I never drink, but have seen first hand, the destruction alcohol does, and for the life of me, can't understand how that can be legal, and weed isn't. It's the people that abuse things that make it bad for everyone. Old ideas are changing, like it or not, it's coming fast. We just can't keep filling our prisons with good people that smoke a little weed. And Witchinghour is right, you've been driving on our roads for years with these people, nothing will change. Has drug testing really helped all that much?( aside from making the drug testing people millionaires) Truckers are still running under low bridges, or falling asleep and hitting buses, and worse. It's time we stop with this "war on drugs" baloney(thank-you Nancy Reagan) and use that money to fix our broken roads and economy. Whew, there, hey, maybe there is something to that confessional stuff. One more thing(Columbo), Witchinghour is right, impaired driving is bad, no matter what it is.

How can you have an intelligent discussion about something that affects everyone differently?
Weed does not do to one as it does to another.

And how can you say that you do not do anything that would impair your thought processes - when something added, like weed, might actually improve those thought processes?
Or something taken away, like meat in your diet, might take away a critical component to your thought process?

If you never taste beer, you will never know if you like the taste or effect. Not for me, either way.
If you never have sex, you will never know if it is to your liking.

If you never smoke weed, you will never know what effect it has.
And from personal experience, it has a different effect on everyone that uses it. Some good, and some bad.

If you never do anything, just to experience THE EXPERIENCE - then what is the use of your Life?

Life is all about experiencing what it means to be ALIVE!
And that means choosing for yourself - not what someone else chooses for you.

Ah...I knew the misinformed and erroneous insinuations about my opinions would result in incorrect yet subtle accusations sooner or later regarding myself. I am in my 50s and grew up at a time when all kinds of things were being tried. I don't smoke, drink or anything else these days. In fact, I'm addicted to health and fitness but advocate personal freedom and responsibility and need no one telling me what is best for me. Just trying to have a rational discussion of which you proved is impossible with your comment about pot effects lasting for days. Good day to you.

THAT was never in the equation or discussion and you've changed the subject completely.

impaired driving is unsafe, driving under the influence of any drug is unsafe... that includes over the counter drugs, and prescription drugs that affect your reasoning and response time.

Controlling a 70 to 80 ft vehicle that weighs 30,000 and up, takes all your skills.

Know what the difference is between a drunk driver who's impaired and a stoned one?

Drunks will constantly blow throw stop signs.

Stoners will wait for it to turn green.

Ha, jbee, i love it! I agree with 900G's, I don't do anything now either, mostly because I'm scared to death of drug testing for buying deodorant, and would't even know where to buy it now anyway. But years ago, we hid it so well, many people would have been shocked if they knew. Before drug testing, I had many prestigious jobs, and my bosses loved me. I consistently did my routes faster than anyone else, and was always within the top 5 for fuel economy and oil mileage. So don't give me that baloney it affects your performance, I steadfastly disagree.
