I switched from Verizon to Xfinity recently, and I’m pretty happy with them. I got an IPhone 8+, and I’m only paying about $65 per month for unlimited everything. I use my phone as my hotspot for watching movies on my laptop.

Your company throttles down after only 5 or 6 gb??? Mine throttles back, too, but only after I hit 20 gb. Might be worth looking into, even though there’s a contract.

Personally, my cell service is Verizon. My hotspot is also with Verizon. This is after trying my luck with MetroPCS, and it being less than sufficient. Verizon has a considerable coverage across the country in my opinion. Using your phone as a hotspot would do very little good, because game systems and movie streaming use data very quickly. I tried, not my cup of tea. I have a ps4 my self that I use in conjunction with my Verizon hotspot quite religiously. I’m not occasional, I’m a hardcore gamer. I do it every chance I get between drives, and those games are often mmo’s. I also watch movies quite often, and I grant that the speed isn’t always the best, but it works and very well in most cases. My recommendation would be all things Verizon. Good luck on your testing, and your career!

What Verizon hotspot do you use? I have Cricket for my phone service and while they get good service around the country they don’t have much for hotspot stuff and as you mentioned your a hardcore gamer that a PS4 would eat through the data pretty fast I am also a big gamer/streamer so I don’t want to end up with a $48275 phone bill cause I went 10gb over the limit.

It used to be around 6gb, I since read my most recent bill and it’s actually around 20gb they slow me down after. But I haven’t reached the 20gb well I don’t think ever. Because I do all my PS4 gaming on WiFi.

The nice thing about Xfinity is that they use Verizon towers, so the signal is just as strong, plus, there are Xfinity hotspots practically everywhere. There have only been a couple places where I wasn’t able to access one. And even if I can’t, I still have the unlimited data I can use.

Does xfinity have just hotspot plans though? I don’t need or want to switch phone carriers as I get 2 lines with unlimited everything for $80 with Cricket. Elsewhere that would be $150+

You plug your phone into your device that needs internet and set the hotspot in your settings on your phone. That's all ya gotta do, and your phone is giving your internet to your laptop or game device. You used to have to hack your phones to make it work, but now it's just an easy settings adjustment, clicking "off" to "on".

    What games do you play?

That would require me to switch phone carriers to Verizon as I would see no point in have another phone that I pay $100 a month for just to use the hotspot.
