Fastrax transportation a division of Day and Ross is one company i would recommend people stay away from.I just quit in November 2010 after 3 years as an owner op,first 2 years were good then Jan 2010 some changes were made in how trucks were dispatched,I went from 13000 a month to 10000 quite a drop. Then to add insult to injury the company decided to start charging for plates, insurance, satellite, increased our holdback to2500,and if you quit they hold your last pay for 90 days aswell as the holdback...Since quitting i have also recieved a bill for lisencing for 2011 and i dont even work there guess i can kiss that money goodbye ,so be warned stay away from these companies.

Charging for license/insurance/HVUT/satellite are all pretty standard things to be charged from what I can tell these days. Sounds like they were getting with the times. The mileage drop would be expected with freight being so unstable.

Being so close to the new year it makes a lot of sense that the licensing has already been processed. The 90 day hold back, I'm not sure what the reason for that is, other than maybe wanting to make sure any fines/tolls are cleared up before final is issued?

I've talked to a bunch of D&R folks, seems like it is 50/50 on how satisfied most are. I have seen lots of Fastrax trucks around. Never really knew what the deal was with them though.

it is catching up with other companies im not opposed to that but the fact that the compensation is not there to support the changes is the main issue.Getting a 10 cent increase and having an additional 15 cent per mile cost increase is the biggie plus having last pay and holdback being held for 90 days.Since the drivers in the east part of Canada only really have 2 families to choose from to work for they can pretty much do as they please(McCain and Irving),i'm just glad i'm not there now.
