RESERVE, La. - Just before 5 a.m. Wednesday, a fatal accident occurred in Reserve.
The westbound lanes of Airline Highway at LA 637 were closed. The eastbound lanes were reduced to one lane, according to the Louisiana State Police.
The roadway reopened just before 10:30 a.m. The accident involved one vehicle and an 18-wheeler.
Rebranda Steib, 40, of Garyville, was pronounced dead on the scene after being struck by the tractor trailer, according to State Police spokesperson Trooper Melissa Matey.
According to State Police, Steib was exiting a private parking lot in a Ford Mustang and was attempting to cross the southbound lanes of US 61 when she crossed in front of a tanker truck driven by Michael Payne, 48, of Amite, in the right lane of US 61 south.
Driver impairment is not suspected for Payne and toxicology results are pending an autopsy for Steib, said Matey. The crash remains under investigation.

whew...heart was in my throat for a minute...still sorry someone died...but thankful it wasnt any of hubbys family....

Condolences to her family.

Hopefully the truck driver was doing everything right, and her family will not try to blame him for her stupidity.
