    2014 Freightliner cascadia dd15 > fault code spn 84 / fmi 3. ELD says: Wheel-Based Vehicle Speed > This may be the last straw that will put me out of business. No $ for a mechanic. I need to fix this myself Now. ..HELP HELP HELP

    I am going to guess that your speedometer is not working?? If so, check vehicle speed sensor and/or connector on transmission output yoke. Part # K-4148. About $40 at any make truck dealership parts counter.

    Your code is and open circuit for the vehicle speed sensor.

    Like Qualitytruck said, check the plug and sensor on the transmission output yoke. You may have to remove the sensor to see it broken or cracked.

    If you want the troubleshooting google “ SPN 84 FMI 3” and scroll till you find a website starting with Freightliner truck > ddcsn- open the PDF and it will tell you what pins to check.
