It is not for everyone - true. I have 8 tractor-trailers leased there and all 8 of them have teams and all 8 teams are 1099 and operate the truck however they want to. I added 3 new tractors this year alone. So it is not for everyone, true. But at the same time, I also have a few tractors elsewhere as well - I'm not for all the eggs in one basket.

I agree with the load board. It’s one thing that is making me consider other options. Sometimes it’s hot, sometimes not.

BUT.....It’s a contractor gig. It’s up to you to make sure you’re getting paid. Their extranet is designed to show your activity and pay outs. Also, it will be about 3 weeks before your first settlement. They go over this at orientation. We have little problems getting people on the phone (as long as you call between 9 and 5) for payroll, hr, etc. Sometimes it takes a few hours for someone to get back to you, but they do call back if you call them. They do have people there 24 hours, but first availables usually don’t have a lot of answers. Someone from accounting or another department may pick up because they were the first available to answer.

We started there working for a contractor to make sure we liked it and to build up cash for our own truck. We bought a tractor and are renting their reefer trailer. We are in the white glove division running mainly pharma. We usually get around $2/mile including dh. We sometimes take less off the surface board to stay busy or to get home, but we’ve gotten paid well for these loads as well. We can negotiate pay when they send it over clink. They call us too when they need a run covered and we can get a good rate.
We get paid dry run pay as well if a load cancels. It’s not much, but it’s something and they always get us detention pay when shipper/reciever makes us wait (we’ve never had to ask them for this).

They say they don’t play favorites, but I think they do. Sometimes I’ll accept a load and we get it right away other times it sit on the board for hours and is awarded to another truck. We’ve only been with the company for little under a year and a half, 5 months in our own truck. Everyone we have talked to who has been there for a few years is happy there.

Also, with the load board.......we have been offered loads that weren’t on the load board so, I know they have other loads, plus we ran a load for a dedicated route once that needed to be covered.

As for the teams....yes they want teams because of their security loads. One person is supposed to be in the truck and awake at all times, unless parked in a secure location.

It’s not perfect but when y’all find the perfect company let me know.
