Do they like to compare phone records to logs like Walmart?

If Saia is more fire-happy than Fedex, as if that were possible, than Saia must be awful.

Not sure, but I'd like to think they're not quite Nazis about it. I've heard of Walmart drivers using "burner" phones, but if you have a camera on you that won't work. I found their policy online in a company PDF, which cited the studies that show even hands-free phone use as being distracting. I'm not sure what the consequences are for violating the policy.

Also, this is not verified, but I saw some talk on the other forum that they are anti- CB radio as well.

Only positive things I'm hesitant to leave Indian River over right now are my days off (Have had Weds/Thurs off forever, it goes good with those Thursday night group rides I like to do) and of course the allowance of hands-free devices. But like the poster said about cameras and pay, leaving the phone at home and singing to yourself all night might not be so bad. But ultimately for myself, it's all about what days off the prospective company will have in store.

Walmart drivers do that for good reason.

I read a post a while back over in their section where a driver was stopped when he sent a text. Problem is, he was in a bad area and had no signal. The message went through automatically when he got to a better area. Of course, he was on line 3 at this time and as far as Walmart was concerned when they discovered this he was texting while driving and was subsequently terminated.

Walmart drivers hate when I bring this up, but not ONE of them can produce a scintilla of evidence that the above scenario either didn't or couldn't happen, and people looking for jobs there deserve to know about that going in so they'll just have to get over it.

If this is what a 6-figure job is like, I want no parts of it.

bentstrider83 and Bob Dobalina Thank this.

Good day all. So I did my road test today. Everything went well as I expected. I spoke with one of the employees about the driver camera in the truck and I was told they are incident/accident camera's. They will come on when you have a hard brake, Collison etc. that sort of stuff. The equipment is kinda old so I was told it may come on when you hit a big bump. As far as electronics, no phones or bt headsets can be used. If you hit a bump and you on the phone that's not a good look lol. Any GPS devices are welcome. Music and all etc. It's not as bad as some ppl think. The cameras are basically for insurance purposes. It's really laid back at the terminal here. If you have any questions post them and I'll try to find out. Peace

neither. both have driver facing cameras.

Apply to Estes, Old Dominion or UPS. they only have road facing camera's.
