Nobody mentioned R&L. I've talked to a few of their drivers and they're happy there. No clue what they pay didn't have time to ask and it was none of my business in the first place. Might be able to get on there as a city driver or running line haul like FedEx or OD or southeastern. I'd stay away from FedEx at all costs. I cannot stand FedEx company or their drivers. FEDEX GROUND anyway. Nothing but inconsiderate ######## who don't know how to stay in their own #### lane. SAIA isn't a bad company to work for depending on the terminal. Some are a lot worse than others. Omaha was good Lincoln was good KC was also good. Milwaukee is a cluster. Same goes for Chicago. But they give you free insurance after 10 years, and you can swap from city to line haul and back. You lose seniority after making the change so I wouldn't recommend doing it unless you're positive you're not going to go back to city work or line haul if you decided to switch. They have decent equipment for the most part. Some of the trailers were junk but then again that is to be expected with most companies.

Stay the hell away from CT (central transport) they're the LTL plague. Horrible equipment. Its not if their junk is going to get you killed, but when. They want to spend money on scanners and crap but don't want to fix their #### trucks. Southeastern doesn't pay like FedEx but I think you'd be happier there. Also if Estes is in you're area you may want to check into them. They're not too bad from what I hear. Although I don't know what the pay is. Anything less than .48/mile and $9/drop and hook isn't worth it. You as a driver are worth more than that. That's my opinion on the matter. good luck.

You should have proper information before posting. FedEx Ground drivers are NOT FedEx employees. All FedEx Ground lanes are bid on by independent contractors. The drivers are employees of those contractors. FedEx does not hire nor do they control who drives those trucks.

DOT should hire them, they do a great job of plowing ditches in the winter time!

Yeah. Those Ground drivers do leave a lot to be desired at times. On the plus side, they drive really fast trucks!

Not all of them. I've passed quite a few and I'm governed to 65. I think it depends on the person who owns the trucks

I can count the number I've passed one one hand. One the other hand, I get passed by several each night.

I normally get passed by the sleeper ones, but the day cabs I'm able to pass.

I could be mistaken if the day cabs are FedEx freight and not ground. I haven't thought to look. I know I can pass the day cabs, the sleeper ones usually blow by me though

If the local thing doesn't work out, have you thought about Davis Express? Running the southeast and home weekends or 7-10 days out surely would be more ideal than 8 weeks OTR. With you being so close to Starke your potential to see the house once or twice during the week would be nice.

My best friend worked for them, he lives near me. Said it was the biggest mistake of his life.

I thought they were a good company but not after he told me what they put on his DAC when he quit. He said he didn't see home for 3 weeks then when he got home it was for a day. I've talked to their drivers a while back and heard the same, you drive the southeast but you won't be home often.

Plus I'm wanting a home every night gig, i wont do regional or otr anymore.

So far im banking on Gemini, Eagle, Southeastern, Old Dominion, and last resort will be Sysco.

Sleepers are definitely Ground. Daycabs are Freight. I've never seen nor known Ground to run daycabs except a few years ago when freight drivers were called in to move some ground shipments because of unusually high volume. Hasn't happened before or since.
