Counterpoint: I always tried to avoid making contact with the dog. Especially in cramped situations where you can’t set up perfectly straight it was too easy to break one of the valves which would put you out of business until it could be swapped. I think FedEx generally has theirs set up in a more user friendly way. But generally I try to avoid bumping.

    Bumper Thanks this.

I’ve got pretty good at lining up my dog without bumping it. I see a lot of folks bumping it, my thinking is like yours, if it’s possible to break a valve, that would be my issue. As far as the room to maneuver, the only place I’ve had issues was the hub at Olive Branch. It seemed everyone got dispatched at the same time with all the trailers in the same area to go hunting. Unfortunately for me, that was my first time hooking a set under those conditions. I learned one valuable lesson that night, being nice and letting everyone go around you just doesn’t work. I’ve now got comfortable where I can hook my set and leave in 20 minutes or less. I’ve had all week to run Linehaul, and it has been 60/40 as far as doubles and 53’s

Wait until you get to the terminals on a Sunday when nobody is there. Trailers everywhere!! Blocking entrances, blocking other trailers making it hard to find the one you need. Lazy drivers not unhooking their sets completely and leaving dollys in front of your lead trailer. Lol.

IMG_5618.jpeg About 3am this morning leaving the Memphis Hub going back to Humboldt. There was hardly any chaos at the yard. Nice and easy setting up the set. I’m parked right outside the door that goes in to the cafeteria, Linehaul and bathrooms.

You’ll notice a lot of FedEx ground hubs are built in the bad part of towns. Keep an eye out and stay safe.

JB has been around the block a few times. I’m quite sure he will be fine.
