I’d certainly call it a feather in FedEx’s cap if they do right by you and hold your position while you’re going through all this.

My job is waiting on my return, whenever that will be. One of our drivers that I worked with at Abilene almost severed his arm off with a chainsaw last year and was out 4 months. Our contractor called him every month asking him when he was coming back. He came back, took a drug test, then went on his merry way. I’ve spoke to my contractor a few times and he’s started asking me when I’ll be back. So, I’m thinking he wants me back. If not, then I’ll gladly retire. Meanwhile, I have an MRI scheduled for the first week in September and planning on the last week of September to return.

Hey everyone. Just stopping by to say hello. Things are progressing well. Physical therapy 3 times a week. Already see a complete change in my balance and equilibrium. Still don’t have the ok to drive yet. We have to go back to the Mayo in Jacksonville on September 16 for my first post surgery MRI and 2 follow-up check ups with both my surgeons. If everything is where it needs to be, I’ll be released to drive. We are looking at October 18th as my back to work date. That’s also when my short term disability ends which will be 12 weeks. We are discussing now if I’m going to go back to work or retire. I kinda like the idea of not working. My wife hasn’t thrown me out yet, so all is good.

If I’m offered a week on and a week off, I’ll stick around. I spoke to my contractor earlier today and he keeps wanting to know when I’ll be back. Pretty sure I’ll be using that as a negotiation.

Keep up the good progress JB. You are doing just wonderful as we all expected you would. If you really love your job it's worth it to go back even if limited. I have been retired since 2011 and enjoy not having to "pound the pavement" but it is actually very boring unless you stay active to avoid any health issues from non-activity. Good luck

Nothing wrong with going back on your terms. Good luck!
