Glad you're feeling pretty decent. I'm pulling for you to get to the other side of the balance issue. I hope you're enjoying the time at home.

Hey everyone, it’s time for an update. My last short term disability check will be deposited on Friday. I have a form signed by both of my Dr’s saying l am released to go back to my normal way of life. In a nutshell, the surgery and follow up along with my physical therapy that ended last Friday is finished. I’m sitting here with absolutely no after effects except for a scar in my stomach where they took fat to plug the hole in my head where the surgery was, and a scar around my ear that isn’t noticeable unless you’re looking for it.
I want to thank each and every one of you for your thoughts and prayers these last 3 months. When this all started back in January, we had no idea what path this was going to take us. To say we both were scared would be a major understatement. But through it all, the support we had and everyone’s prayers and well wishes, we came through it. Thank you so much for being there.
I do need to say one thing, and that is the financial part of all this and the excellent insurance I had. My total out of pocket for this since January has been $7850. My deductible was $6000, the other $1850 I paid over 3 months which I just paid the last payment this morning. Out of a total of $445,000 medical bill, that isn’t bad. In fact, with my short term disability, my critical care policy, and my major illness policy, it didn’t cost me a dime. I’m not going to debate the reasons why this was so much, but I will say, I can see why a lot of folks go bankrupt with this type of medical bills. Thank the lord that when open enrollment took place last October, I had the foresight to plan for something like this.
Now, my work. My contractor kept in touch with me, in fact, he paid my medical coverage for 2 months. We have agreed that I will go back to work for the rest of the year, get my 3 weeks vacation on the first, then while my wife and I are overseas in February for 3 weeks, make the final decision to retire. We agreed I will give him enough notice so he can plan accordingly. I was going to retire at Christmas, but this 3 month vacation I had over the summer scrambled my plans. My contractor has been really good to me, I want to give him something back before I hang it up. I’m leaving Sunday to drive up to Savannah, Monday I have to do a return to work drug test, and back to the easiest job I’ve ever had in trucking. Be safe, be well and God Bless!hotrod1653, DonRobbie, Lonesome and 16 others Thank this. -
