Its just going to be a matter of time before national ltl and freight merge, or they just get rid of national ltl all together.

Going all contractors?

I think it's already the case here in Chambana. From what my boss is telling me.
-
I work at freight and I think its just all DRIVER rumour!! There are way to many variables for the 2 to merg. If they do I think National will stay the long haul div and freight will stay reg. National makes more money then freight drivers (atleats at tiers 3 & 2) I cant see them giving all the frieght drivers a raise to bring them up to snuff.. dont get me wrong I would love one of those 600 mi per day runs, but it just isnt going to happen!!

FXFE National is being desolved into FXFE Freight. National will only get 3 yrs max senoir to transfer in with. All purchase carriers will be canceled from hauling our freight. There will be lots of management, Drivers, Dock workers, office personnel, and shop positions lost. I will know more on Monday.

WTF?!? I just got hired with FedEx last Wednesday with a dedicated run from Urbana, IL to Sacramento, CA........
Figures, I find a job that I enjoy and pays decent.... -
Try to transfer to the Effingham or Layfayette Terminal and you will be better off being a company driver with full benifits. It might be a positive thing!
-
Thanks for the heads up. Effingham isn't that much farther from my house than Urbana, maybe 30 minutes more. I'll look into that. Atm, I'm getting .36/mile with no benefits. I'll be getting just under 900 bucks for my first week says the boss(contractor). I'm all for benefits, the only thing I guess I should worry about is getting the dedicated miles and/or pay like I will be getting with my current situation.

Quinid, hopefully for you they won't have a "work for somone else for 6 months then reapply here" in their rules.
Some companies won't hire from their contractors. -
####, good call. That would make sense.
