When it comes to KLLM from what I have seen is, If your dispatched out of Portage, IN which is a freight mecca you will do fine. Drivers I met from down South paint a different picture. KLLM is only as good as the freight and freight in the Chicagoland area is always booming compared to other places in the Country. Hope this helps..

Roehl is by far the better choice over KLLM. Unless something has changed, Roehl runs their training trucks as a solo truck. When you sleep your trainer sleeps. KLLM runs training trucks as teams, sometimes with fatal consequences. I have worked for both companies. I would avoid Kllm like the plaque. When times got tough, they started converting their employees into contractors. This shifts the risk of equipment ownership from the company to the driver. Things get slow, your stuck, chained to your lease and investment. As was also mentioned in another post, the first leasees enjoyed a better set of terms than those following after. This is pretty much de facto behavior from Kllm. Promise you something great, deliver for a while, then change it up later.
Kllm has a primary temp control customer that determines most of their strategic decision making at the corporate level. This customer is the reason for their Atlanta and Portage terminals. Expect hard to make appointment times, pressure to deliver, regardless, and the wrath of the safety dept. when their is no way possible to log it.
At one time (2008) the hiring manager was notorious for DAC entries that pretty much guaranteed you will have trouble getting hired once you leave Kllm. If the same guy is still doing that job, I have no reason to expect anything has changed. -
I've seen a good forum on JBS Carriers. Not trying to push them but they do take students.I was at KLLM back in 01 I lasted only a year since they seem to forget where I lived.

My husband worked for KLLM fresh out of driving school from 5/2007-8/2008, and then again from 11/2010 to the present. He has been happy with them. No, not everything is perfect, but it never will be. Since being back, he got the pressure to be a lease op but turned it down. Most weeks he gets 2500-3500 miles. Overall a solid company. As for the Atlanta terminal, I have heard plenty of drivers complain about that one. But since you are from there, you would probably get treated better than a California boy.
