Guilt is good. It means you have a conscience. Granted he is a seasoned driver. He wants to screw around that is his business. In some ways he was giving you a blessing with time that you could have been able tto complete your training early using your hours. Yes it is wrong and may have been a oversight on his part.
As to the reefer fuel, your not alone on the shenanigans. My instructor wasnt much better at CR England. The company policy was to top off the fuel each time the truck was fueled. I found that I was the only one that would fill the refer. If he was on duty and we had the trailer for a shortt haul, the trailer would have been parked on fumes. Granted we dont pay for the fuel directly, it would go on his account and settled in the future.
Well now you will have a new trainer. Hopefully this new one will be by the book.

So... he was putting 35 gallons a day of reefer fuel in his truck on the company dime? It wouldn't be too long and whoever was doing IFTA would figure out something ain't right in Truckerville.
"Uh, yes, Bill... we'd like to know how your truck is getting 15 mpg?"FlaSwampRat, okiedokie and x1Heavy Thank this. -
Why feel guilty about another persons actions?
Hiss actions led to his consequences.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -

His personal views & habits aside he's a thief. That crosses the line. A lesson in what not to be. Move on.

used to be non taxed diesel you got caught putting a reefer fuel in your tanks
they opened up your caps and check that you got a heavy fine..
there was a separate pump for reefer..that maybe you just pay tax on everything but I haven't pulled a reefer in about 14 years so it's hard to tell..
I just remember people going in and buying off road diesel that wasn't for Road use that was not taxed got big fines -
Most of the time reefers just pull forward and use the same nozzle they put into the truck. It would seem more hassle than you'd be saving in cash to look for ORD, I think. There's probably a separate section for nontaxable diesel on tax forms.Trucker Kev Paid Tourist Thanks this.

Do these elog systems not have a password for each user? Would probably be a great idea.
