You are pretty much doing the same thing US Steel does (and GOOD JOB to you for it!)

US Steel publishes their rates. No matter who's truck it is, the load pays the same. And it's all pre-paid, which is probably not an avenue available to you.

Stick to your guns, pay what the load is actually worth, and you will have solid, dependable O/O's and small fleets coming out of your ears. Trucks that can do the job safely and properly, and get the cars where they need to be on time and undamaged. Kudos, good person!

Now if US Steel would quit cutting their rates to the bone, I might (maybe) consider going back to regional steel hauling....with a covered wagon or conestoga only, of course. Cause I'm a lazy bugger!

Nice. Maybe we can start a movement. Call it "They won't put it on their trucks for that cheap so you shouldn't either".

Look, this is hardly the reason rates are cheap and to suggest that this is the reason suggest that you don't have a clue about economic sector markets and why prices move where they move. Aside from that point though, he, you, me, we can do business with anyone we want. Just because a load/car is posted doesn't me that you can have it just because. If he didn't want to do business with UR fine! If he wanted to call UR to the mat on their cheap freight, good for him. No harm was done in doing so.

The rates are so cheap because I refuse to post, haul or contribute in any way to cheap freight, including give decent freight to companies that post cheap freight? You are funny sir.
