When I'm doing industrial-sized outdoor tanks it's just a manhole lid that I have to pry off with a pry bar. Much easier! Unless it's a located in a parking lot and someone parked their car on top of it. -
So why was I feeling like i was ready to go on my death bed if I'm OK with smell? Not during but after work
How many traps do you service a night?
How come we have no manholes?
A lot of locations are basement here. Most of them will be 14 bolt.
Agreed one bolt are the best. Nobody puts nothing on there...
Going under a sink to undo 14 bolts kinda sucks but isn't bad.... Sometimes have to do a little plumbing work to pop cover off because drain is blocking -
I wish I had a good medical explanation but I think it was just your body adapting to the fumes. Your body will adjust and I think you'll be okay. If the illness continuous I would say go get checked out by a doctor or pursue a different career option.
As for how many traps I pump It all depends on how my day is scheduled. If I'm doing industrial-size tanks I can do 5 or 6 a day if I'm doing the smaller tanks I can do 15 or 20. I also pump septic tanks.
Did I read earlier in the thread that you are in Canada? Maybe that's why you don't have manholes on your tanks, just a different design.
Sometimes this job has its perks, like one time I was pumping a grease trap at a barbecue restaurant and the owner gave me a free rack of ribs. Multiple times I've been offered a free dinner because the owner was happy with my work. -
Nights here
Do you get to work days too?
I would think you prefer industrial manholes?
Might be Canada. Your right we are so smart we are stupid. My job is probably more difficult than it has to be compared to yours
Yeah that was not cool on health part. It was like having the flu...or better yet a lung infection where you go weak and start giving out
What is pay there if you don't mind me asking? Where r u located -
Relax. You are adapting to the heat and to actually doing some physical work.
-
I work early mornings and days.
I do prefer the large industrial tanks compared to the small tanks. They take longer but I like working outside in the fresh air and I enjoy having room to work.
I think your body will adjust to this line of work, just give it time.
I'm in California and I make $20/hour plus overtime. So I'm not rich by any means but I get the bills paid. -
