I tried them TODAY... The woman that talked to me had a really bad attitude. I think the environment in there, it is not so friendly.

Cupcake, what part of Wisconsin are you from? If you're looking for a local ltl job there are lots of options but it depends where you live. Much like the better otr gigs a lot of these places want experience. Also remember doing ltl you will be bumping a dock 20 times a day and have to talk to the shippers and receivers.
I don't know anything about Schneider so your miles may be as good as it gets but I would do anything you can to help gey more and stick it out. I run primarily regional and I'm getting significantly more miles than you and I'm home every weekend. I'm on a load now going 750 miles but this is only my second load breaking 500. I will say at least for me on these short hauls finding ways to outsmart the e-log is the trick. Also getting creative with the split sleeper berth can really work in your favor

It was Charlie Brown, not Linus. I try to be helpful where I can!

I'm from Manitowoc, but very familiar with the Fox Valley and US41 from Green Bay to the IL border. I'm used to commuting to an employer, so if I had to drive about an hour to get to a good job, I wouldn't even think twice about it.

Ottman - I would say that something went wrong. Every single person I've ever talked to at SNI has at least been pleasant, even my DM when I screwed up a load that then affected my following load, and both had to he taken off and another load put on me. Said pointedly that I effed it up, but they would get it taken care of and to hang out until my QC updated (45minutes or so), and never raised his voice or put me down or belittled me; just said I effed up and moved on. Even in the pre-hire process I had to get around a a non-CMV accident that happened within a year of my hire date, and it was my fault, and it was preventable, but I was open and honest and pleasant about everything, and here I am employed by them. I say this not because I have any reason what so ever to defend the company, but because I really must believe it was something you said. If I am wrong I sincerely apologize, but your experience is so unlike any I've had so far.

personally I think the biggest thing you have against you right now is trying to get too much hometime. (just an opinion) I thought Schneider preferred their guys out longer.( I could be wrong, haven't talked to anyone with them in over 15 years) Have you conssidered playing the game by their rules until the one year mark? could make for larger paychecks and better opportunities opening up after the year.

I think it depends on which division you are in I believe. Just waiting on the hair and urine drug test results to come back but I have a conditional offer to drive regional for Schneider. My recruiter told me I can choose to be out 5 days and be home on the weekends for a 34 hour reset (home sometime on Friday and back out on Sunday afternoon) or stay out 11 days and get 2-3 full days off at home.

Check out Roehl out of Marshfield. They hired me away from CRE back in 2006 with only 3 months experience. I KNOW for a fact that Roehl pays it's new drivers ALOT more than .29 cpm! I spent 4 years with them before going local in Denver and then back with them when I got bored with local work. Back in 2006 I started at .33 cpm with them and last year when I left them for Interstate I was getting .39 cpm. They don't hire in Denver anymore because they lost their customers out there, but Roehl was very good to me while I was working for them. Interstate is a good company, but they require at least a year experience. The miles are out there. You just need to tough it out so you can enjoy driving and not worry about the money. It's a lot less aggravating sitting at customer waiting to get unloaded when you have a 600+ mile trip lined up for the next day. The good jobs do exist. I run Monday thru Friday or Saturday morning and get 2400-3100 miles every week. (Paper logs for now) At .42 cpm, I'm more than happy with my take home cash, even after benefits come out. So if you like the actual "job" of driving, stick out your 6 months, so you don't get screwed for $1000, and then make a switch. Like I said, Roehl will probably take you right now if you are really at the end of your rope. Truly, Good Luck!
