Depending on where you live your best shot would be to try and get into the oil and gas field, for the simple reason that they usually only require you to be 18 since most of the driving would be in state. Look at the big companies, I.E Halliburton, Baker-Hughes, Schlumberger, Weatherford, Trican etc. Most of them won't really make a big stink about convictions. The other thing is if you are not set on driving truck and have a conviction the oilfield is a great place. As long as you are a hard worker you will go far and make tons of money. Like 100k+ money. If you aren't set on driving truck and just want a good job look into some of the drilling companies such as Nabors, H&P, Orion, Precision, Nomac. Roughnecks aren't called that for just any reason and about the only thing they look for is that you won't complain and work your butt off.

That's the same as pleading guilty. It's like refusing a breathalyzer. They are still going to get you.

SO is about the worse thing you can have. Many teenagers do the same thing and probably all of us could be convicted today. The last place you do it is at the parents house. If you are innocent you don't go down without a fight.

This topic varies greatly from state to state so it depends where you live. Two juveniles is looked at differently by a judge versus an adult with a juvenile. Depending on the state again it might be possible for expungement. There might even be a waiting period of up to 10 years. What state is this in and I'll look up your possibilities.

But getting hired with a recent felony is going to be very hard. Your hope is to clean the record up. If I were you I would go get a job that doesn't do background checks like framing houses, roofing or a factory job.

Matt, I will not say the things these orhers have said, But put it behind you, Don't continue to screw up, keep your nose clean and stay strong, I would get an attorney, one that maybe just got out of Law School and is wanting to hang some Eye Teeth on his get'erdon' Stick! so all can see he got a SO off of a 17 VS 16 YO and it stuck, the kid has no more felonies and is a clean living church going Twuck Driber! Keep us informed learn all you can before you get old like the old timers who say they haven't gots the brain space to jam anything else in their brains!

Hey man ,I would suggest you talk to a lawyer ..there is a big chance you can get that felony expunged or sealed ,you may have to wait for your probation to be over ..but try and talk to an attorney as soon as possible ...there are lots of them who would give you a free consultation on the phone ..just try that first before you even think about getting your CDL ..best of luck .

Plead out by a Juvenile? Thats every bit an intimidation issue, go back and get it redone now, not three yrs and a judges retirement later, in the mean time, I concur on the rough neck venture, apply, fax your app over, explain where you are coming from exactly, probably find the person who'll decide has there own skeletons to consider when screening applicants. Would I get the CDL now? Yes, there are also contractors in the fields who maintain the road access to the wells, build the pads for drilling..etc.. plow snow in the Winter mnths, pretty sure their requirements are much more minimal on felonies, if at all...since they usually spend no actual time on the operational side of things once the drilling starts..
raise a bunch of money if you are a saver to get this a fair relook on court proceedings.

Kudos to the OP for even attempting to spew the truth on this forum. Theres some real high people here on even taller horses.

OP, keep your nose clean and work the factory jobs or whatever you got for a few years. Let things settle down. My recommendation? 3-5 years at least. Your real young man, real young. If you can break into trucking at age 25 with a half-decent company, you'll be fine in the long run. Dont panic right now, as far as career choices go, I feel like we make the most important decisions in our mid 20's, mostly. Just dont screw up again and end up trying to make a life changing move in your 30's. Its considerably harder, at that point you are "damaged goods", with "bad habits".
