I was talking to a neighbors friend one time and he happened to mention that he had some sort of a conviction holding him back from driving. I asked him what it was, and he snapped at me and told me, "you don't ask people questions like that" just like the way his mother used to remind him. I fired back and said "do you really think you're different than any one else our age?"
So then he starts to loosen up and I said probably everyone in our government has done or still do some type of drugs. And it's true. So all of this is mainly fear based, if we are to be subjected to drug testing pre employment or random then everyone should also be, especially people who serve in our government. When you think about the drug problem objectively then we are all felons but only a select few have the honor of being branded and demonized as felons.

It's discrimination to require A and B drivers to submit to random testing yet exempt C drivers, for no particular reasons.
We all drive on public roads and if testing makes a difference then it makes no sense to not test C drivers when they are responsible for the majority of crashes. -
There is no "right" to drive.

I had a Misdemeanor First Offense DUI in February of 1990 MORE THAN 23 YEARS AGO, and in the trucking industry, it is STILL held against me.
Talk about "pay your debt to society".

Look on Craigslist in your area... Most small Companies don't do background checks they just look at your current MVR.... I definently believe in second chances... Id much rather have a felon making a decent living driving a truck verses going out selling crack or robbing people... Good luck brother

I work for a small family company. The other day a driver was being interviewed who actually did time in prison. I happened to overhear the conversation, the driver was lamenting that no one wanted to hire a convicted felon, he said he was a good guy and finished all of his programs.
I don't know if he was hired but it sounded like a church confession. The guy sounded honest but yet I could tell by his voice he was still troubled over the conviction. If my company decides not to hire him at least they took the time out to listen to him. -
The drug felon I trained was a great guy. He needed a job and he wanted to do it right. He is still driving today, making good money and is happy. Drugs and trucks don't mix that is true but neither does alcohol yet I hear no complaints about those who like to drink on their hometime. I don't see the difference. Everyone has broken the law at some point, to say absolutely no second chances is just a tad unrealistic.
People change, some for better some for worse. -
Yep that's right, we all make mistakes, the mistake I made one time is to give a druggy a second chance, That will never happen again, Cost me plenty, Sex offenders need to be executed!, My opinion, You do something like that, you have no right to live!

Sorry to hear that but does your company run into Canada? because they bar American citizens into their country as well as truck drivers for a DWI even if it is only a point over the limit and I think we all know how low the bar has sunk.
