Ya, I didn't think, stupid me, that it would turn into that.:biggrin_25523:

Like in the OP, I stated that I like them. Some don't, some do. But why place lables on each other.

Have learned a couple new names though. Rookie sticks is a good one that comes to mind.:biggrin_2559:

If you don't like or want them, that's fine. IMO though, it's a safety issue, something in the mindset of having your radio on. Both can be used as very good safety items.:biggrin_25525:

Are there any TMC guys here that could give any words on how well those mirrors stuffed behind the bugshield work?:biggrin_25525:

No, they like the idea of having them. Sort of like ordering a diet coke with your Big Mac, completely pointless but it makes them "feel" better. Same with someone spotting you backing up. If no one was there you might stop and actually look, but since you have someone watching, you put too much faith in them.

No, but unlike a steering wheel holder I can still function without any of that. Had a power steering pumps fail in the past while loaded heavy, never once did I panic or call a wrecker. Bells and whistles are great as long as you don't NEED them to function. Get it?

BINGO to each his own, I gave my opinion you gave yours. But if a guy comes to me looking for a driving job and asks for hood mirrors I'll send him to Swift. :biggrin_25525:

J,well said. I see Mr/Ms corn hole with a full year under his belt comenting on the merits of power steering, air ride suspention and cruise kuntrol, with emphasis on baby step devises like mickey mouse mirrors, paperless logs, EOBRs trying to say this new and only technology is all he knows and somehow must be forced down the throats of everyone. My first OTR truck was a single bunk cabover without power steering, spring ride suspension, and none of the electronic stuff like cell phones. Also didnt have FM radio, much less satalite radio. Back in my day as a newb I heard the same "new breed" stuff that the vets would tell the newbs, but I can distinctly remember without question that newbs back then were nowhere as disrespectfull as the ones today sitting at the megafleet truck fuel stop, barking loudly over the cb that everyone else who isnt a brand new know nothing jack sheet about trucking, must be a super trucker. Btw. IMO, 99% of the guys who call others "supertruckers", are megafleet newbs fresh outta school

A pre- empt here, newb CR England driver will be along soon to tell us how it really is today, regarding trucking., and break down everything we have been doing wrong all these years since the days he was in diapers and we were driving. His company truck has mickey mouse hood mirrors, EOBRs, and paperless logs and he's not afraid to tell us about who it should be.

And I have ZERO probelms with newb drivers, we were all newbs at one point. But I cannot take a newb driver seriously who is trying to tell me "how it isL.

Good to see that! :biggrin_25514:Although I say I've got 4 years, I've been in and out of these things for many years, well, since 1974 that is. Only full time the last 4. I guess I could still be called a rookie, eh?:biggrin_25525:

Everyone has their own opinion, whether accepted by all or not. And yeah, some of them can sound ridiculous. Possibly some of the problem is the internet itself. Sometimes it's difficult to understand a person's point of view because you can't hear the inflections of speech, hence my use of the smilies.

At any rate, thanks to all who've been posting, it is interesting.:biggrin_25523:

Guess I'm a rookie too. I only had 11 years in it, so I know it isn't nearly what some of the "old hands" have.

But whatever, I still like the fender mirror, at least on the right. Hell, anything that can help keep a driver out of trouble can't be all that bad. And I am willing to trade "looks" for "safety" any day. But then I'm just a rookie.:biggrin_25522:

Come on guys, it is a TRUCK. An implement that you use to make money. Unless you are entering it in "purty truck show," what is the big deal. Not nearly as much to get upset about as I'm seeing in this thread.

I can get down the road just fine without all that, but thats not the point. I could also walk 5 miles instead of driving to get to the store.

I got no chip on my shoulder.... What gave you that impression??

BTW, we dont have automatic tranny's....

Im not shovin anything down yer throat.....but you sure think I am, dont ya?

If you chose to drive without stuff like that, its your perogative.

Holy cow, youve got some deep issues.... I bet yer trainer treated you harshly, huh?

The EOBR stuff spilled into this thread. You just struck me as new loudmouth, but dont sweat it, no harm no foul. Tiz just the internet, much like the CB.

I think you'd have enjoyed trucking 20 years ago before all this new bullshitt electronics garbage, and your mega fleet dispatcher watching/questioning your every move, making sure you shut down not one minute past your 11/14. Luckily for myself I dont have to roll like that. Sounds like you're happy with your setup/gig, more power to ya. Keep it outta the median.
