I'm predominantly a night person... I'm used to staying up til 8-9 am before goin to sleep. I'm gonna call the east coast recruiters now and ask them about this and I'll bring up that I read of someone that just graduated from Roswell, which is even further then where I live. Do you remember exactly when he graduated? Thank you all for all your help!

Just called the east coast recruiting number. They said there not taking people out of New Mexico because they don't have any instructors from NM to help me with getting my NM cdl... Kinda silly if you ask me =/

Your schedule will revolve around the freight you are carrying. Not around your personal preferences. Sorry, but that's the way it is.

He was actually a good one, former marine combat injured in the gulf war with many scars to show. When he was discharged and recuperated he started as a company driver for Swift, out of Jonestown. Now an owner operator,he's on his finale year of payments and will own his rig.To clarify ,his statement to my son was that when Swift gets a truck with an APU,they take it out and sell it.

Swift does not get trucks with APUs. They are not standard equipment on any make of truck, nor will Swift order a truck with an APU.

Being a combat vet does not make a person knowledgeable about Swift's internal practices. Experience with Swift does that. This is just another asinine rumor being spread by someone who wants something to complain about. I respect the man's service, but I stand by my statement.

APUs have been installed by Swift for some folks who have CPAPs. I suppose, when the CPAP user no longer has the truck, the APU is removed at that time. That would make better sense. If a L/O has an APU installed on his or her leased truck, the APU must stay with the truck. What is done with it after the L/O is out of the truck is Swift's business. I understand the dichotomy here. But, it's written in plain English in the contract the L/O signed.

Swift is having such a grand success selling APUs, they have a trailer full of them at the Phoenix yard...same trailer, same APUs that have been there for about three years now. I really don't think they're making much money on that.

Injun, What does Swift use, if anything so that the cab can be heated or cooled while the truck is not running? Or does the truck need to stay running to do so? Im asking from a company driver. Im starting orientation the 28th.

My Volvo has a bunk heater that runs without idling. For AC i have to idle and did so anytime I needed to over the summer and not a word was said to me. They don't expect 0% idle, just keep it to a minimum and you should be fine.

    Injun Thanks this.
