The idea that this company is leaving drivers stranded (ala Arrow) is ridiculous and completely unfounded. Very irresponsible posting at best.

What it appears is that the drivers jobs are not going away, but that ffe is just getting rid of dry van.

Reefer has always been there specialty anyway...

    Frozen food express.

    Nothing dry about that.

The drivers should be just going about business as usual .

Rumor has it that FFE has sold the dry division to Celadon and the remaining trucks and trailers to Conway. Fact- over 1,000 drivers have been let go/sent home with no information as to when they will get a truck as Celadon purchased all the FFE 2007 and 2008 tractors. As of today, many FFE trucks are being sent to FFE yards around the country, the only thing we can figure from the last week of firing/selling drivers is that they will be given the same options as those already gone. Go to Celadon or Conway or be out of a job.

A lot of drivers were sent home on their own dime, no bus ticket from FFE if they refused to go to work for Celadon.

Looks like your rumor holds merit.

Over 1,000 tractor/trailers and drivers have either been sent loads to Celadon's headquarters or sent home, as of last Friday, Oct 21, 2011.

I saw a Celadon pulling an FFE trailer. I about gave myself whiplash doing a double-take.

The head honcho did not mention laying off hundreds of drivers to improve their financial situation. guess they fall under liquidation of equipment.

I think FFE is in Debt up to their eyeballs and had to liquidate the dry side quickly and celedon swooped in a made a offer. They don't want the drivers and want to pay the least they can in unenjoyment.

And the CEO is a hero because he just now realized he needed to provide better equipment to retain drivers? Paaaaleeez.:biggrin_25523:

I like that " as long as they meet our criteria" like there is a difference between Celedon and FFE.

Well I just got home to Tampa. They laid me off without warning. They said my truck was being redeployed elswere and had me report to Atlanta, when I got there they said they did not havw another truck for me so they wanted me to go apply to Cecdon. When I said no thanks becuz they have no idea how to get people home to Florida for home time they then sent me home on the bus saying they had no further work available. They took 3 days to send me home making me sleep in the truck each night until they got a ticket home for me. When I got home and call some other drivers I found out 6 of my friends got the same treatment.
