Exactly! After being in this business for 26you yrs now taking 6 week shots are not what I want. FFE got me home every 3day sometimes.4 weeks and that's what most offer and what many drivers enjoy. Asking a driver to do 6on week shots is alot unless your young and want to see what's out there. I have seen it. My 6things week days are behind me.

It will be interesting to see how this shakes out in the weeks ahead. I think Celadon and con-way will start cutting drivers loose as soon as the "sale" is finalized. As for ffe letting thier drivers know what was coming down - no way they are going to let the news get out that they're cutting loose a division before it happens. Drivers would be leaving before all the loads could be delivered, and the company would not be able to put a positive spin on it.

they didnt shift people over to another company, the people that were let go were just told to hit the road,or more likely just fired. as far as i know, nobody was left stranded, although i did hear that trucks were repo'd at truck stops altho i dunno if it was true.

bad management, alleged theft of operating capital.

the idle time was cut, and they even charged some drivers for idling too much.

most lease drivers were brought in and told they couldnt keep them running due to low amount of frieght and released them from their contracts.

they did reduce the overall fleet size, but not by alot.

they sold alot of trailers, sold excess trucks.

maintenance went downhill, only now is maintenance getting better

ripping off drivers as far as not reimbursing tolls by telling them that they dont match logs, selectively.

a good amount of the office staff was cut over time..

prly leaving out alot, thats the short version.

the company did survive though thru bankruptcy, bought and folded into superservice.
