It sounds like FFE is into voyerism.

Maybe I am reading this wrong. Is the camera on all the time or is it activated when rough movement is present?

It runs 24/7 it just flags incidents it detects within its set perimeters and sends a (allegedly) report to drivecam.com showing 11 seconds before and 4 seconds after the(alleged) incident to their headquarters where it is expertly evaluated by their professional staff ( their exact words) then it is forwarded to their customer (ffe) whereas the customer (ffe) also reviews it and if they (ffe) deem it necessary they have a ( for a lack of a better term) constructive criticism discussion with the alleged perpetrator and, (in the well acted instructional video included with the devastated news of the day on 2/1/13 upon which we were told the cameras were going to be installed into our trucks) not to look at it as being scolded or chastised but as being made a safer driver ( as If a talk upon itself is enough to make one "a safer driver driver").... did I explain it clear enough, lol

That is by far the most rediculous attempt to make a safer driver I have ever heard of. I understand using a blind side can for lane changes and such but taking a drivers privacy away for no valid reason is inexcusable. Recording the inner cab is not in any way a safety feature beyond that it looks to be pointed at the sleeper. Which make it more of a violation of one privacy.

As my friend in my class pointed out it wasnt so much our invasion of privacy that was invaded but the ability to use our image without our consent that concerned him. For example in all the accident videos they showed us they also showed us the drivers reaction during their accidents thats when my fellow academy friend pointed out it was unlawful to show our image without our consent even if the vehicle was rightfully owned by ffe. Anyone that has watched any type of show on tv knows that. And upon saying this to drivecam.com both he and I refused to sign the consent forms, like it made a difference they still put it in our trucks...

Hate to hear that they didn't at least take your opinions in to account. And I agree it is wrong to use ones image without consent. I can't figure one valid reason to need to record the inner cab other than for using ones image as you have mentioned or to take the privacy away so that drivers would be compelled to obey in cab rules and regs set by a company. But I don't agree with actions like that by a company that is suppose to be professional and should respect and trust there drivers until given reason not to trust. But that's just mho.

I agree with what your saying but i have to believe that it's company equipment that they own and control just like a office building, the company can do any thing they want, just like a office setting, they can monitor your computer and restrict it's use, they can put camera's anywhere they want except in privacy settings, the difference being common area's vs. private, i think that FFE could say that the cab portion where driver and passenger sit would be a common area vs the sleeper would be a private area. A private area in a building would be something like a rest room. The bottom line is if you do not like the situation you are free to quit and move one down the road, yea it sucks, but that's where the world is headed. Or should i say that we are already there.......... my .02 cents
