Well, I'm scheduled to go to orientation on Oct 23rd! Are the miles still pretty decent at FFE?
-
Haole, I have weeks where I run my butt off. Then I have weeks I may do 2 34hr restarts. It's sporadic at best imho.
-
haole glad to see you made it, now long they take before they called you back?
-
I filled out an app and talked with a recruiter in mid-August before I started school. She asked me to contact her back once I finished school at the beginning of Oct. Once I graduated, I called them back and they had me fax in all of the paperwork. I had a tentative "yes" 2 days after I faxed the stuff in, but a definite "yes" a week later (the recruter was out sick for a few days).
sarookie Thanks this. -
Haole Oh..I applied but never got called I guess I have to call them to follow up...they give you any details how much your gonna start at? how many weeks out with trainner..thanks

I took the initiative to call the day after I filled out the online app. They hadn't looked at it yet, but it was readily available to pull up on their end as I chatted with the recruiter. I figured that some personal contact to go along with the app would go a long way. Boy, was I right about that! I was just pleasant, acted professional, and we asked questions back and forth. Guess they were impressed enough to ask me to finish the application process once I finished school. I later found out that they receive over 200 student apps a day but are only hiring something like 30 students a month (maybe these are numbers for just their Lancaster location?). So anything you can do to stand out without ticking them off will really help.
They last quoted me 27 CPM without per diem to start, but per diem was available and not forced. This was given to me by the recruiter in mid-August when I first contacted them. I have heard that they have updated their pay rates, possibly higher for new drivers, but I'm not sure. I'm OK with that pay rate for now...I knew coming into this with the current economy, etc. that I wouldn't be getting much my first year. I'm cool with waiting until orientation to see what I'll ultimately be making.
Training is six weeks, quoted on their website and confirmed by the recruiter. They strongly prefer that you do that six weeks straight without a break. So I've got my family all prepared for that.
My orientation was moved to the 28th. Some sort of new policy where they want all student drivers to start orientation on a Wed instead of a Fri. Fine with me, I'll roll with whatever. -
haole, how's it goin with ffe? you been yet?
-
My orientation starts Oct 28th.

I took the same kind of initiative Haole. I called to get them to fax me the paperwork, I filled it out the same day, faxed it back in, then called to verify they had got the fax. After that i called the next afternoon to see if they had looked at it yet.
