FFE

I breifly worked for FFE out of the Bridgeview , IL terminal as an o/o in the 90's and found it to have been a good company back at least . I made good money running % of gross on their LTL BOARD and had load choices , sometimes up to 5 at a time to choose from .... always taking the best paying load with the best prospects at the other end . As an owner operator as well as years being a company driver I learned the only way to stay busy and to make consistent money as a truckdriver is to run for an LTL carrier and those where you could be on a dedicated route . My best money making years were in those very positions and only in those positions . The last company I worked for running a dedicated route was fro RAUN TRANSPORT out of Des Moines , IA which has many jobs all over the place for a wide arrange of customers . I'd suggest taking that route . Running for any carrier today as an otr truckload driver in my opinion is setting yourself up for failure . You are hung out to dry almost daily one way or another where you are waiting on everyone else . Running LTL and Dedicated it has been my experience the tables are turned in your favor in that they are now waiting on you ! I made more money running for LTL carriers and dedicated jobs than any TL company ..... EVER ...... sometimes making by as much as 3x's . If you're a memebr of OOIDA ( NOT JUST FOR O/O 'S ) you'll see an advertisement in the Landline magazine for the St. Christopher Fund which helps truckers and their families facing medical issues . I was thinking about going to school through FFE also. From reading this thread I am so glad that I did not. I was talking to a recruiter after I filled out an application on line. I have to admit the only reason I was considering going to them was because they had a pet program. I was very interested. But when I told her about my misfortune with PRIME Inc. She started stumbling around and said that she would have to talk to someone before she could go any further with me. I thought this rather odd. Seeing how I was not technically an employee of PRIME and owed them no money for school. She said that she would call me back as soon as she found out anything. i waited a couple of days sent a couple of e-mails to her and no response, Finally I got a hold of her on the phone as soon as my name came out of my mouth she realized who I was. Kinda took a deep breath and sighed a little. And told me that they could not take me for another six months. I told her well by then I will have already gone to school and started with another company. I asked why and did not get a real reason for the turn down. I have a clean background and a good MVR not accidents or tickets in 30 years. So What was the problem... I haven't' a clue.
So like I said before after reading through this I am thinking she did me a huge favor. There are 2 companies I will never work for. #1 PRIME and #2 FFE.

 

What did FFE do to you. I work their I dont have a big deal. You must be looking to lease.also i did 5 weeks with prime.They are 100%lease . Dont understand all you folks read s##% an beleive everything. I read all this BEFOR going with FFE.And whent their to see firsthand an yup its 75% nonsence. Juat wonderning take care.

 

This must be lease. Their is no sign on bonus of anykind for anybody.

 

Prime has company drivers... just sayin'. Don't take offense to that Lunaglow.

 

I worked for Lisa back in the late 90's to 03. I never had a problem with them at all. I know FFE runs a few things different but for the most part its the same.

Not every company is the same or works out for every driver.... Most of it is what you make.

 

ironpony I do not understand why you have such a dislike for anyone that does not see eye to eye with you. I was and have just stated things that were my experience with these two companies. Just that! I have absolutly no reason to lie about things. What good does that serve? I thought that was what this forum was all about. The freedom to express your opinion. I did not get on here to make enemies. I really like people. But you and your friend it seems have chosen to make me yours.

fancypants I am sorry you took offense to my post. That was not the intent. No I was not looking to lease I was looking into thire school. Got the run around for several days. And made the mistake of telling her that I had been with my husband on his truck with PRIME. That for some reason changed her whole out look. And she kept putting me off. Then told me to check back in 6 months if I still wanted to go to school.

 

lunaglow: I don't dislike anyone, nor did I attempt to denegrate you in any way. However, folks who want to paint Prime, FFE, among others in the worst possible light tend to jump on anyone who disagree with them.

I frequently read posts where someone misstates something - that gets repeated and blown out of proportion - not always innocently. I just post some correct information, and nothing more. As I previously stated, good luck, and please try to do better the next time you're in the seat!

 

Ok thanks ironpony! I was not trying to paint them any other color then they were. I was merely stating what my experience was and has been with both. I was upset with FFE because they could not give me a straight answer. I really wanted to go to their school.I could not find to much of anything negative about them and they have a pet rider program. I have a little dog that is very important to me. Now I have to leave her behind. Because before I lose absolutely everything I need to work. And in order for me to work I have to go to school first. I have been a house wife for a very long time. And now find myself with out my husband. So for give me if I seem a bit bitter at times. I surly do not want to make that kind of impression.

 

lunaglow Its all good. I was just wondering. Still am what would your exp w/hubby an prime have anything to do with it? that weird. dont blame you. Id be peeeooooo also. I understand you now. This co. treats everyone different. Im doing fine. Knock on wood. Not everyone is. An they do some weird stuff. I get weird messages in my trk call my fm an he says ignor that. leaves me thinking ? fleet wide message an im to ignor it. OK WILL DO BOSS. guess im lucky.Any way best of luck to you wherever you end up.Hope to see you on the road soon.
