Alright I unloaded in Fort Worth this morning. I didn't get a load immediately and the only truckstop I knew of for sure is the Loves, TA, and J over close to the yard. (my fuel finder book has vanished). So I came to the yard after finding no parking at these locations and about ready to pass out, and once again trailer is put out of service. I am also given a load which picks up when I go off break, but I don't have a trailer to go with.
THEN as if by a miracle I saw a driver drop an EMPTY 2009 trailer, it has no out of service data on it, and is CLEAN (inside and out). Now I am told I can't use this trailer because it is dedicated to Johnson & Johnson loads!!!
WTF is up with a trucking company having no sense of logistics?
Hire new drivers and give them new trucks, then sell what seems to be 90% of our reefer units, and not have enough vans to go around for all the drivers being employed.

Lonewolf , i have been accepted to go with ffe, should i look else where ?
-
I would. Miles wasn't really much of a problem for the almost 3 months I was there but trying to get your paycheck out of them is a different story. I left and they told me if it didn't work out I was always welcome back. I laughed and walked out headed for the bus station.
SSMETAL Thanks this. -
Another sign of tough times a head.. FFE use to be, from what I understand a good company.. With the credit crunch, and business not able to expand, that means no goods for the consumer to buy.. In the end more, and more companies, trucking and none, are trimming down, work force, and some closing doors for good..

I can't honestly tell a driver what a good sound decision is. However I am willing to give facts of what you deal with when coming to the Lancaster yard AFTER you're solo. I have had 4 weeks out of 11 months when I had trouble with payroll, but that was straightened out quickly, and was usually the result of computer throwing out information as double dispatches had occurred. I was averaging roughly 2800-3200 miles about 2 months ago, now I am averaging about 2500. In all honesty with our current economy I think ANYWHERE that hires trainees is going to be a crapshoot. They are taking government subsidies for training these people, putting them in trucks, and barely have the freight needed to support those already employed.
SSMETAL and bluevike93 Thank this. -
They have been a rat outfit since at least 1982. I had dealing with them back then and it sounds like things have just gotten worse and worse. Lots of freight, but at what cost? Lisa used to be a great company. Had a couple of driver friends there. Best equipment on the road and good pay. Sure those days are long gone too.
-
Technically there is no Lisa/FFE/American Eagle anymore. The equipment still has those names, but there is only FFE now. Honestly when I started with them a year ago they were a good starter outfit, but every since they decided on some of the merging #### they have it's been worse day by day.

Thanks for the Info Lonewolf... I am going to give them a shot.... I have had my cdl since 1992, but have not drove for 5 years, they seem to be the only company that will take me with a refresher course and bring me in as a T-3 driver # a higher pay rate.... Im not going to go through a full CDL course again
, So I will give them a try. It's worth the 6 month contract ! Thanks again for the Info, hopefully will see you sometime after i start in January. be safe !!

I am having to fight payroll again for a load they aren't paying, but saying they are. Last week it didn't show up, and the same thing this week.
