Figuring out what's important to me

    a deciding what factors are important in deciding which company I go with. But I've came a long ways and I know the number one most important thing to me is whatever company it is they have an excellent training program. I did not think that was necessary coming out of an 11 week school. The school I currently attend Iowa Central Community College Transportation Technology Center is a great School they instill the fundamentals and Foundation to truly become a professional driver but I've had a couple job opportunities that don't really have a training program and that makes me nervous so if there's any suggestions on a company that trains well I don't need four months. I'm definitely at the top of my class brother Iz over the road out on the road two weeks at a time makes no difference to me I really don't want to do team driving flatbed reefer dry box it don't matter to me they all have their perks and they all have their drawbacks

    Good to see one who has an informed outlook. I don't like the idea of not having worked with a trainer or mentor for any length of time in the beginning. You will learn more in the first 2 months in the "real world" than you will any 12 months at a CDL school but you need to develop a contact person (fellow driver) to call for advice now and then until you become more comfortable with the job

    All depends on your location, how you want to begin your career (what trucking segment) and perhaps your home time frequency needs.

    That's one perk I have, lost my house, lost my home, me and the ol lady... well not so good. But I am in central iowa

    You don't need a house actually. Take the other half with you and see the country. You won't get rich, but it will be cheap travel expenses.

    Search the forums, search out CSA scores of companies you find an interest in. If a company has a poor safety record/CSA score, you can bet they have piss poor training. A hazmat or flatbed company will usually give you the best. UPS, Air Liquide, Superior Carriers, if you can get on. Heard good things about TMC. That's going to be your problem. Deciphering good info from hearsay from people that have no true firsthand experience.
