I had a wi scale master ask me some questions last summer.
I asked him what it had to do with the reason he flagged me in.
He changed the subject.
Filing paperwork on dashboard.

Despite many other shortcomings, our FL Centuries have really handy storage around the left seat. Current bills, fuel and scale tickets are only on the dash long enough to exit the shipper/truckstop where needed. Next they go in the small compartment just overhead. Older paperwork goes in the plastic accordion folder as okieron mentions in the big o/h compartment at the next stop.
I guess if I had a flat-top without all the overhead space, I'd either use the door pocket or a dash/seat bin somewhere. I'm not that meticulous a person, but I do dislike having stuff loose on the dash.camaro68 Thanks this. -
When you have papers and other crap laying on the dash it makes you look like a lazy slob. I have never understood why some people think that is a place to store their stuff.
Caterpillar Cowboy, camaro68 and SHC Thank this. -
I believe that the unofficial limit for a dash stack is 200 pages. But it must be weighted down by at least two styrofoam takeout containers with half of their contents still remaining uneaten.

my wallet cigs and cb mike are on the dash
oh and my lil ts book under the cb
that is mounted on the dashcamaro68 Thanks this. -
lol.......So at the end of the month I guess a driver should roll down the passenger window. And proceed to file the paperwork outside the truck to make room for next months paperwork......lolSHC Thanks this.

I have a logbook clipboard that opens up, and that's where my BOL and customs paperwork for current load goes. That's the only thing on the dash. Older paperwork is already in trip envelopes in the back, and other paperwork (customs stickers, blank BOL's, etc..) are in a flip folder in the back.

The scale master does not need a reason to call you in. If you go in the door giving them a difficult time you are the one who's going to loss the battle.SHC Thanks this.

Questioning me about sleep and what not or when I had my last rest period is not pertinent information to an over-axle weight issue.
there IS a little thing in this country called the US Constitution. I retired from the army serving to protect that document. There are things in there, namely the 4th and 5th amendments that protect my rights. I will, to the day I die, continue to defend that document and if that means I ASK someone for his probable cause on his questioning me, I will.
THAT is as much YOUR civic duty as it is mine. It would do us all well to start doing MORE of it.
This is a country that is supposed to be run BY the people, not to be subject of the government.volvodriver01 Thanks this. -
And sometimes it's wise to pick your battles.j3411 Thanks this.
