i noticed a filter on the axle (1st axle, not the drive axle)of my FLD 120. what is the filter for? its small like the size of a car oil filter. picture points to where filter is located. sorry i dont have a pic of it (not my truck).

It's a pumper rear end, there is a pump in that rear carrier. the filter keeps, well the filter does what a filter does to prevent pump failure

Its just an oil filter for the front drive axle. Nothing special. Change it out once or twice a year.

Yep got one on mine. Change it out every year when you change out your rear end oil.

I'm confused, you say not the drive axle, but have a picture pointing to a drive axle? If your drive has a filter, it has a pump in it, which was an option for better lube. You usually see them on trucks set up to run heavy, off-road. or other severe duty applications, but I've seen them on regular over the road trucks.

Finally got around to grabbing pics of filter...just wanted to double check and confirm the purpose of the filter...left side first pic top view second pic...

Yeah its just a filter for the forward drive axle. Should change it out every year at least.
