I got hired after graduating of friday the 16th. I even got my picture taken.
They didn't have a training for me so I had this week off. I had to call every morning, which I did. I get told yesterday I had a trainer and would be leaving this weekend.
Today I called and checked it. Later they call me and fired me just for living outside their new hiring range that just came into effect.
I did nothing wrong and I GOT FIRED. -
Sorry to hear that Josh.
Were they at least polite? -
Hmmmm, all of you drivers suddenly without jobs are in Michigan. Coindicence?
Sorry to hear that Eckz. I wonder if they called that drunk driver crashing into you a preventable and that put you on the "naughty" list. -
It could've been, Rawlco. But with all respect (And you know that i'm a big person and will admit when i did something wrong)
The only way that was preventable is if i was Mrs. Clio. They're lucky they still had a truck left. We pull 100,000lbs over here, and i wasn't jerking the wheel or "panic braking" for anyone.
We aren't haulin' potatoes here LOL -
I am not claiming that it was in fact preventable, but Iowa makes their own decisions.
Yeah, I had the same problem a few weeks ago, car lost control on black ice in front of me. First thought was: No panic braking, no wild swerving. I did think about your accident while dealing with mine. -
It's really hard to not follow your instincts in that situation. I hope you and everyone else involved are okay.
-
Yeah, I have been bounced around more by potholes. I just scratched the right rear quarter panel of a toyota camry with about two inches of my right front bumper. I was boxed in and couldn't leave my lane. I didn't do much damage, but the car carried on across the next lane and caught a tow truck with the drivers side door, so I bet it was totalled by the time they were done.
I appreciate your concern Eckz. -
Sorry to hear they let you go. Hopefully you can get back on your feet in no time.

well all i can say is this. Alco is very strict and you are only allowed on your trailer in the building after it is loaded. You are not allowedon the trailer outside in the lot and you are never allowed on top of the load without saftey equipment! These are the rules and they will be followed to the "T" Alcoa is a big account for TMC and they will fire you for not following the rules.
