Good job brother. There are several companies out there once you get your year in at Melton that you can go to who pay a lot more and also give you more miles and such. I think Melton is like the Schneider and swift of flat bedding where they give great training and experience but it isn’t meant for drivers to stay there long term. So be patient and once you hit that year the sky will be the limit. Heck I know several guys that did good with Melton and now are owner operators making tremendous money and a couple even working with smaller companies that diddle daddle with the logbooks when necessary to avoid 34 hour waste time.

James j and Lonesome Thank this.

We actually have a pretty remarkable number of million milers considering the size of our not that large fleet. I feel like I'm constantly running into meltons that aren't blue.

Few years back, there was a Melton loading at a place I was unloading at. Side of the truck said "4 million safe miles".

    I shook his hand.

Yes seems to be a lot of million miles. My guess is partly due to the employee stock thing.i don't get micromanaged as a new driver so I can imagine how much freedom the million miles have.my dispatcher has only called me once, and that was just to tell me I am doing well.

    Lonesome and Ddh77777 Thank this.

I think I am getting a handle on recaps.right now I am on a 2600 to ore(including deadheading)I am trying to do exactly 7 3/4 hours and then taking my 10.then going back on duty at the ten hour point .it means my sleep cycle shifts but I think it allows me to get the miles I need.being ex navy and ex firefighter the changing sleep schedule doesn't bother me

Just keep in mind on trips that take several days that when you're running recaps you don't get time back until after midnight in tulsa even if you finish your ten, I learned that the hard way

    Friend Thanks this.
