Congratulations on the 3000 mile club. It sounds like everything is rolling along smoothly for you so far. Don't be worried about patting yourself on the back once in awhile because you deserve it now and then. Keep up the good work and keep on being safe and productive.

Not gonna lie,the snow makes me nervous.i am from so cal so we don't have real weather.melton policy is shut it down in snow.i feel like that is not always practical or needed,so I just put my big boy pants on and drive..the way I gauge whether to drive or park is if I see nice owner op rigs rolling I figure it's safe for me.if only flip flop Mafia is rolling I figure it's time to park.my ego is not big enough to make me drive if it's truly unsafe.but I think of all the northern drivers doing it.i just look way down the road to slow early trying not to use brakes at all.and try to never come to a full stop.ollSpeed_Drums, navypoppop and Lonesome Thank this.

I believe the rule is they want you to park it if the chain laws are in effect. At least, that's what I've always gone with and never gotten in trouble.

No exciting updates, just running what I think is hard.taking a week off on the 17th.it will be my first home time since I started.i had a load to perris in Nov so I stopped by the house for the night.it will be nice to get back in so cal for a bit to thaw my bones out.seems like I spend a lot of time in snow country.had my first real mistake while driving.i was driving to my pickup location and my fuel stop came on my tablet,so I pulled into a parking lot to input into gps.parking lot was covered in ice potholes up to 5 inches deep .my front steer dropped into a pothole and I couldn't get traction to get out.i put snow cables and tire chains on and even laid load chains down but couldn't get traction.had to make the call of shame to dispatch to get tow truck.took him about a minute to winch me out.noboody has chastised me about it yet.i hate that it happened and have been flogging myself about it, all the snow and ice I have driven and I get stuck in a parking lot lot!The 90 day fuel bonus came out and I am getting 985.so that's a pleasant surprise.its the first cycle for me.

Don't beat yourself up over your first booboo. We all have had one during our career even though maybe of a different scenario. You are doing a great job.hotrod1653, James j and Ddh77777 Thank this.

Just reached 6 month mark.hurray.no exciting updates, just running miles.running a oversized right now.12 wide.kinda weird seeing your load over the k rails in construction zones.the hauling them is the easy part.i hate having to follow the permit route.my Oklahoma route had 30 different lines of directions.. Missouri only had 3.basically go north and exit into iowa.currently 2nd in fleet and 12th in company..lots of guys say the scorecards don't matter but I like them.even though I feel like I am a bumbling fool out here it reassures me I am doing ok..it's kind of hard to measure your growth as a new driver since we are by ourselves.i know I am not really the 12 best driver in Co but I at least know I am not the worst..to paraphrase Ricky Bobby,if your not first your last..someone told me I can take a pic of permit route and run it thru chat gpt and it will give me a Google map route.going to try it after I drop this load
Ddh77777, plant, jackoboyo and 1 other person Thank this. -
James,
Great to hear from you as it's been what 2 months? I see that you are doing fine and hauling some OD loads. It's good to have the experience so just take your time and be sure to follow those directions as the states have supplied them and supposedly know the safe routes according to the dimensions provided for the permits. Keep up the great work and the updates we are pulling for you.James j Thanks this. -
The scorecards absolutely do matter. If SHTF I can tell you right now that's how they're going to handle layoffs. Bottom 10%, 15%, etc. Good on you for doing your best
