Canada makes it simple it’s part of your license. I’ve had mine so long that I’m not supposed to touch adjustment. But i leave yard only after I check them . I keep trailer for a week so it’s silly not to check things .
Finally happened, ELD and over on my drive time.

When one of us runs out of hours they have the next guy starting grab the pickup and go drive the rig back. It's never very far out and the out of hours driver is still on duty and getting paid

When it is clear and safe get your truck speed between 5 - 10 mph and brake hard. The hard braking will trigger your brakes to adjust to the correct limits if working properly.
I do this every time I leave the yard & have never had a brake violation.
When getting a level 1 inspection they will have you simulate this to see if they can ding you for automatic slack adjuster not working properly. If you are out of adjustment. The key is you have to be under load. Just pressing the brake pedal doesn't recreate the correct conditions. So you will get a 2nd violation.Last edited: Apr 16, 2021

Get a second License under a different name and add it to the ELD as your team mate. Then just keep the curtain closed.

Pump the brakes to 85 #s for 5 seconds 5 times. That auto adjusts them. The other option is the pump down air brake test.Accidental Trucker, Tb0n3 and Jenn72 Thank this. -

I seen a guy go back and forth a few times on the brakes before leaving. Used the whole entire paved lot. Brakes still out-of adjustment when he left.
The proper thing to do is to do your job properly and adjust them. BEFORE the cops see it.
No questions will ever be asked with proper brake adjustment.
And you'll also see if your s cams are still in good shape.
If they don't work. Slamming the brakes and shifting the load isn't going to do anything.Doealex Thanks this. -
