I was talking to a friend yesterday on my headset rolling down the road in my 2013 Volvo with iShift at 61 mph. He said, "are you driving?" I said, "yeah, why?" He told me things sounded so quiet he thought I was sitting at home.
A little later I stopped and made myself some soft tacos with food out of my built-in fridge, heated in my built-in microwave. Watched a little t.v. while I was at it.
In all honesty, all of the objections he listed really aren't that big of a deal. I suspect lack of income is exacerbating and magnifying all of the negatives.
I've made a decent living these past four years in this industry...
However, this week is my swan song in the truck and on the road. I accepted an offer to join the management in office team where I work

Hope he did not have his DOG in the truck because the dogs hearing picks up a lot more of the noise than we even hear
Charli Girl Thanks this. -
its true, as a Chef I had physically demanding days rather it was for events and I was on my feet 14 hours running around doing things or it was preparing for an event and having to cut 500 steaks by hand, there were times I went home in a ton of pain in my legs, wrist etc.
As a truck driver yeah I get tired at times but its not that hard of a job or physically demanding most of the time unless you have a route where you unload. Only thing that hurts when im done is my butt for sitting on it so many hours.Charli Girl Thanks this. -
as soon as his 8-5 job drops him because he complains about the office noise..he'll be back..
Ghost Ryder, quetzalcoatl and Chase05 Thank this. -
Where do I get in a 2013 Volvo with IShift and cruise at 61? I hope i am not high jacking this thread but this is pretty lame, he work a year, isn't that were it gets better? that is where it got better and easier for me!. -
haha
sometimes I miss having an 8-5 job, only had one of those and it was when i landed an Executive Chef job in 2008 at a Honda R&D testing track out in the middle of nowhere, monday through friday 8-5 and I fed an average of only 25 people a day unless there was a big testing going on where they brought in teams. They ended up shutting down the site, Honda claimed they didnt need the tracks and testing anymore since most was done on a computer...so after being opened for over 30 years they shut it down in 2010.
If I could get a decent paying 8-5 job now I would go for it to be home with my family more. -
A year is lucky, for some it takes two or three, luvtotruck Thanks this.
